相信大家一定與Mark不謀而合了。假日出游早已厭倦了繁華的都市，可能小城的清靜與悠閑帶給我們更多安詳?shù)拿利悾瑳r且對于Mark這樣的老外，中國遙遠(yuǎn)的小城就像一個神秘未知的世界等待他去發(fā)掘。

Mark: We need a holiday.

Jenny: Agreed. Where to? Shanghai? Beijing?

Mark: No， no， no. I need to clear my head and ①get out of the hustle and bustle. We need to choose somewhere a

bit quieter.

Jenny: I have a friend who lives in a small town in Fujian Province. Maybe we could go and visit. I’m sure he

won’t mind.

Mark: What sort of stuff can we do there?

Jenny: From what I’ve heard， there is a lot to do in the area. The city is called Putian; it’s between Fuzhou and Xiamen. So we can do day trips to those cities or spend a few days in them if we like.

Mark: Oh， Xiamen is on the coast， right? We can go to the beach. And Gulangyu Island is really beautiful too. I’ve seen photos of it. ②You’ve got me hooked already.

Jenny: Yeah， plenty of places to go swimming. And they have barbeques set up along the beach. The food is really tasty. Fresh seafood.

Mark: Yum! I really like Fujian food also. ③Pam got me onto it—the dumplings and noodles. It’s great.

Jenny: And the university is pretty， too. We could definitely spend a few days in Xiamen.

Mark: Sounds good. We can just take it easy and ④do whatever strikes our fancy. How about Putian? What is there to do there?

the city.

Mark: Oh cool. I wanna go to a temple.

Jenny: There are a few in the mountains.

Mark: I heard somewhere that the Shaolin monks have a temple in that area.

Jenny: I think you’re right. I’m pretty sure you can see them perform a kung fu show if you go at the right time. We’ll have to look into that. ⑤That sounds like it’s right up

Mark: Totally! I really want to try to talk to the monks and understand their way of thinking and their spirituality.

Jenny: I wonder if any can speak English and what sort of education they have. I’ll get my friend， Jin， to be our

tour guide.

Mark: He’s Chinese?

Jenny: Yeah. He’s our age. He lives with his family. They are really friendly.

Mark: It would be great if we could have a traditional dinner with them， you know， to really experience the culture firsthand.

Jenny: That would be nice. Also， I know there are lots of mountains and rivers and waterfalls nearby.

Mark: Awesome. My camera will get a nice workout.
