怎么樣，這個老外不一般吧？瞧他說起中國電影那個如數(shù)家珍，不得不讓人佩服啊。相信假以時日，Mark一定會是個中國通。

Mark: I can’t figure out Chinese television.

Sophie: What do you mean?

Mark: Well， obviously I can’t understand what they are saying， but I mean some of the shows are just bizarre. Like this one—it’s just a group of people chatting together and making jokes and doing crazy dares and stunts.

Sophie: What are they drinking?

Mark: I think it’s vinegar. I’m not sure why. And there are always weird sound effects when someone makes a joke. It’s actually kind of funny. It’ll definitely take me a while to adjust to Chinese programs.

Sophie: Well， there are English channels too. They play some of the latest US drama series， although they are about one season behind America.

Mark: ①I think just whack on a movie. I bought some Chinese films that look interesting.

Sophie: Infernal Affairs! I’ve been meaning to see that. You know， The Departed is the American re-make of this.

Mark: Oh， I didn’t realize.

Sophie: Yeah. But from what I’ve heard， the Chinese version is much better.

Mark: Who’s in it? Anyone I would know?

Sophie: Umm， Andy Lau， Tony Leung and Edison Chen. Maybe you’ve heard of them?

Mark: Yeah， ②that last name rings a bell.

Sophie: Edison? Yes， well， ③he was the talk of the town earlier this year. What other movies did you get?

Mark: Of course I had to get Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. I love this movie. ④I’m a real sucker for anything with kung fu in it. Plus I really like Zhang Ziyi.

Sophie: Aw， I don’t know. ⑤Jury is out on her. Don’t you find her a bit bland? ⑥She doesn’t really sway me one way or the other. Chow Yun-Fat on the other hand…

Mark: He’s an awesome actor， hey.

Sophie: I saw him in another Chinese movie a few weeks ago—The Children of Huang Shi. It was really moving. It’s a true story. Gives a good look into Chinese history over the last century.

Mark: I’ll have to check it out. Here is another one I got.

Sophie: ChungKing Express. Hmm， I haven’t heard of it. Oh， Faye Wong is in it; I love her. I always sing her songs when I go to KTV. She does a few English songs.

Mark: You still haven’t taken me to KTV. We keep talking about it， but never actually do it.

Sophie: We’re a couple of slackers， aren’t we? OK， let’s go this weekend. Are you doing anything?

Mark: Nope. ⑦This weekend works for me. I want to get a big group together. I’ve heard it’s more fun with more people.

Sophie: True. But I think we’ll have fun regardless.

Mark: OK， let’s watch this movie.

馬克：我看不懂中文電視。

蘇菲：什么意思？

馬克：哎，很顯然我不明白他們在說什么，但我的意思是有些節(jié)目真的很奇怪。像這個——就是一堆人在一起聊天說笑以及做些瘋狂的嘗試和花招。

蘇菲：他們在喝什么呀？

馬克：我想是醋。我不清楚為什么要這么做。而且每當(dāng)有人說笑話便總會播放一段古怪的音效。這其實挺搞笑的。我肯定要花上一段時間才能適應(yīng)中文節(jié)目。

蘇菲：嗯，有英文頻道啊。它們會播放一些最新的美國電視劇，雖然它們都比美國播放的大約晚一個季度。

馬克：我想還是看點電影吧。我買了一些看上去挺有趣的中文影片。

蘇菲：《無間道》！我一直想看它哩。你知道嗎，《無間道風(fēng)云》是美國版的重拍作品。

馬克：哦，我可沒意識到。

蘇菲：是的。不過據(jù)我所知，中文版的好多了。

馬克：有哪位演員？哪位我可能認識的？

蘇菲：嗯，有劉德華、梁朝偉和陳冠希。也許你聽說過他們？

馬克：是的，最后一個名字有點印象。

蘇菲：陳冠希？是的，嗯，今年早些時候他可是城中熱話。你還買了什么其它電

影嗎？

馬克：我當(dāng)然也買了《臥虎藏龍》啦。我很喜愛這部電影。我超級熱愛一切跟功夫有關(guān)的東西。而且我真的很喜歡章子怡。

蘇菲：啊，我不知道。大眾對她是怎么看的還不得而知。你不覺得她有點呆板嗎？我既不討厭她，也不喜歡她。反而周潤

馬克：他是位很棒的演員啊。

蘇菲：幾個星期前我在另一部中國電影中見到他——《黃石的孩子》。那部電影非常感人，是個真實的故事。它很好地展現(xiàn)了上世紀的中國歷史。

馬克：我要去看一看。這是我買的另一部電影。

蘇菲：《重慶森林》。唔，我還沒聽說過它。哦，這電影里有王菲呢。我太喜歡她了。每當(dāng)我去唱卡拉OK的時候，總會唱她的歌。她唱過幾首英文歌。

馬克：你還沒有帶我到KTV唱過歌哩。我們老是說要去，卻從來沒有實際行動。

蘇菲：我們都是大懶蟲，不是嗎？好吧，我們這個周末就去吧。你有什么事要

做嗎？

馬克：沒有。這個周末我可以。我想把大伙都聚在一起。我聽說多些人唱K會玩得更開心。

Smart Sentences

① I think just whack on a movie. 我想還是看點電影吧。

whack on: to do sth. really fast with determination（快速、堅決地采取行動）。例如：

At the time of slow economy， you really need to whack on your travel budget.

在經(jīng)濟放緩的時期，你需要削減你的旅行預(yù)算。

② That last name rings a bell. 最后一個名字有點印象。

ring a bell: remind sb. of sth.， but can’t remember exactly what it is（想起某事，引起回憶）。例如：
