故事梗概:美國獨立日當天的新奧爾良港口一派節日歡樂喜慶的氣氛，可誰知危機一觸即發，一艘滿載游客的游艇頃刻之間發生爆炸。ATF探員卡林·道格(丹澤爾·華盛頓飾)著手調查，他依靠敏銳的直覺發現這起恐怖事件與另一樁兇殺案之間有著千絲萬縷的聯系。在新建的特別調查小組，卡林獲準使用秘密設備“時間之窗”，可以扭轉時間，查看過去任何想查看的地方。當看到自己的搭檔遭遇危險，卡林通過“時間之窗”給搭檔發出提示，但由于操作失誤，卡林眼睜睜地看著自己的搭檔慘遭殺害。懷著深深的自責，卡林不顧所有人反對，毅然決定冒著危險親自回到過去拯救另一名受害者克萊爾·庫切芙。
