A nine-year-old girl from Bristol (布里斯托爾，英國西部港口城市) has become the first child to ever design a UK coin.

Florence Jackson's picture of a high-jumper will feature on a 50p coin， which will enter circulation (流通) next year.

She beat 17，000 other entries to win a BBC One Blue Peter competition celebrating the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Her high-jump motif (圖形) is the first in a series of 29 officially-licensed 50p designs to commemorate (紀念) the Olympics.

The youngest person to have previously designed a UK coin was 26-year-old Matthew Dent from Bangor (班戈區(qū)，北愛爾蘭東部自治市區(qū)) in Gwynedd (格溫內(nèi)思郡，英國威爾士郡名) last year.

These and other eye-catching claims are detailed in a book by Australian anthropologist Peter McAllister entitled \"Manthropology (人類學(xué))\" and sub-titled \"The Science of the Inadequate Modern Male\".

Delving (鉆研) into a wide range of source material McAllister finds evidence he believes proves that modern man is inferior to his predecessors (前輩) in， among other fields， the basic Olympic athletics disciplines of running and jumping. His conclusions about the speed of Australian aboriginals 20，000 years ago are based on a set of footprints， preserved in a fossilised (化石的) claypan lake bed， of six men chasing prey.

Zoo Painted Strips on Donkeys to Make \"Zebras\" 珍稀動物一“馬”難求，動物園“畫驢充馬”

Gaza City zookeepers have found a creative way of drawing crowds to their dilapidated (荒廢的) zoo—by painting their donkeys. The Marah Land Zoo's only two zebras died of hunger earlier this year. The popular animals were too expensive to replace， so the keepers decided to design a pair of donkeys with black and white patterns instead.

Ahmad Barghouti， the owner of the zoo， said a professional painter used French-manufactured hair coloring to make the donkeys look like zebras.
