Web 2.0 維博2.0

Meaning: a second phase in the evolution of the World Wide Web where developers use new technologies to create websites that look and act like desktop programs and encourage collaboration and communication between users.

近日，全球語言檢測機構(The Global Language Monitor)稱“Web 2.0”是第100萬個英語詞匯。誰也沒想到，“Web 2.0”最初只是一個技術性詞匯，意指下一代網絡產品和服務，但在最近其使用范圍不斷擴大，得到了廣泛的認可。現在“Web 2.0”是相對Web1.0的新的一類互聯網應用的統稱，而由Web1.0單純通過網絡瀏覽器瀏覽html網頁模式向內容更豐富、聯系性更強、工具性更強的Web2.0互聯網模式的發展已經成為互聯網新的發展趨勢。

The concept of “Web 2.0” began with a conference brainstorming session between O’Reilly Media and MediaLive International. “維博2.0”這個概念是在奧萊理和國際飆媒體的頭腦風暴會議中首先提出。

Space Headache 太空頭痛

Meaning: a debilitating[使人衰弱的] headache experienced by astronauts[宇航員] during space travel.

當你在電視屏幕上看到宇航員在太空漫游時，或許你會產生羨慕之情。可是你知道宇航員要面對不少職業風險，而太空頭痛(space headache)就是其中之一，它是指宇航員在前往國際空間站過程中產生的頭痛現象。研究人員發現，大部分前往國際空間站的宇航員都會產生頭痛現象，有些頭痛發作在發射期間，有些發生在太空行走時，還有一些則在降落時。

Researchers advise that astronauts need to add space headache to their list of occupational risks when they decide to take on assignments. 研究人員建議宇航員在決定是否接受任務時要把太空頭痛列入一系列職業風險中去考慮。

Dutch scientists have discovered that a good number of astronauts have suffered space headache. 荷蘭科學家發現不少宇航員都受到太空頭痛的困擾。

Carbon Neutral 碳中和

Meaning: emitting no net carbon

dioxide[二氧化碳]into the atmosphere.

全球變暖與二氧化碳排放有著密切的關系，因此碳中和(carbon neutral)一詞便應運而生了。這是一個新出現的氣候變化領域的詞匯，指計算二氧化碳的排放總量，然后透過植物等方式把這些排放量吸收掉，以達到環保的目的。另外，幾個與碳有關的新詞，如低碳(low carbon)，零碳(zero carbon)也逐漸被公眾接受。

A plant is said to be carbon neutral if the carbon dioxide that it absorbs while alive is the same as the carbon dioxide it emits when burned as a fuel. 據說如果植物在生長時所吸收的二氧化碳量等同于該植物被作為燃料燃燒時所釋放的二氧化碳量時，那么這株植物就是碳中和了。

Third Screen 第三屏幕

Meaning: a video screen， particularly the screen on a cell phone， that a person uses almost as often as their television and computer screens.
