Step One:Warming up
T: Good morning, boys and girls. I’m Lucy from Harbin No. 69 Middle School. I think we are friends now. Do you think so?
S: Yes!
T: When I was a little girl,I wished to be a teacher. Now,I have realized my dream and become a teacher. Do you have a dream?
S: Yes!
T: What do you want to be? What is your dream?
S: I want to be...My dream is...
T: Good dreams! And we now know that a dream is a wish to have or be sth, especially one that seems difficult to get. Today we will learn the second lesson of Unit 4 part -Reading. We’ll talk about Wang Wei’s dream.(板書。)

Step Two:Before reading
T: First,lease skim the whole passage and try to find the
words that you don’t understand.(The students begin to read as soon as possible. )Please stop,and tell me if there is any new words.
S: Faith.
T: Who can guess the meaning of faith?
S:信任。
T: Yes .Faith means having a strong belief or trust in someone or something.

Step Three:While reading
1. Skimming the passage.
T: Now look at the screen. Which one should we choose?
What is the reading about?
A. Wang Wei was accepted to a university.
B. How was Wang Wei successful ?
S: B. A is the main idea of the last paragraph. But B is about the whole passage.
T: Yes! You are right! Now in this lesson,We’ll learn about four reading skills. I think if you can use them better,you can understand a reading better. Here’s the first skill. Read it together(課件展示):Focus on the whole reading instead of any part of it.
T: When you come across questions about the main idea of a reading, you can use the first skill. Pay attention to the whole reading instead of any part of it.Do you want to know the other three skills? I have five other questions. Would you like to know how to answer them more quickly?
S: Yes!
T: OK,let’s come to the second and the third skills.
2. Scanning the reading(課件展示).
(1)Scan the passage with the key words.
(2)Scan the passage with the questions.
T: Here’re my questions.
(1)When Wang Wei got a letter from the university,why were his hands shaking?
A. Because he was sick.
B. Because his future was inside the envelope.
C. Because he was angry with his father .
(2) Why was Mom upset about the television?
A. Because she didn’t want Wang Wei to watch it so much.
B. Because she didn’t think Wang Wei could put it back together.
C. Because Wang Wei wanted her to buy a new one.
(3)Why did Wang Wei’s teachers think he should go to the university?
A. Because he had lots of money.
B. Because the university is easy.
C. Because he had talent.
(4) Why did Wang Wei need to apply for a scholarship?
A. Because his family didn’t have enough money for tuition.
B. Because every student has to have a scholarship.
C. Because if he has a scholarship he won’t have to study.
(5) Why did Mom have tears in her eyes?
A. Because she was angry with Wang Wei.
B. Because she has to pay for Wang Wei’s tuition.
C. Because she was proud of Wang Wei.
T: Now open your books,and scan the text with the key words and the key questions.(給學生時間尋讀課文。)Now it’s time to check your answers. Who can answer the first question?

T: Why do you choose B,and where can you find your answer ?
S: B is from the first paragraph !
T: Which sentence?
S: His hands were shaking as he took the letter-his future was inside.(同樣方法完成其他4個任務。)
T: We have learned the second and the third keys. Read the passage with the key words and the questions,and you’ll find the answers faster than usual.
T: Now I’ll show you the last skill. Please read the passage in groups and discuss how many parts there are in the passage. (生討論。) OK,tell me the answer.
S: There are three parts.
T: What are they?
S: Paragraph 1 is Part 1. Paragraph 2 and 4 are Part 2. Paragraph 5 and 6 are Part 3.
T: Wonderful! Please tell me how you make it?
S: According to the main idea of each part.

T: Now let us analyze Part 2. Please read Paragraph 2 and you can discuss which ones belong to it?(課件展示,生選擇。)
What problems did Wang Wei face?
A. His mom was proud of Wang Wei. He liked to see how things worked.
B. His mom was upset to see Wang Wei’s actions.
C. His mom was proud of Wang Wei.
D. He wanted to be an engineer.
T: This time please read Paragraph 3 and 4,and then discuss which ones belong to them ?(展示課件,生選擇。)
What problems did Wang Wei face?
A. Nobody liked him.
B. His family didn’t have enough money for tuition.
C. Wang Wei had no confidence.
D. Nobody in his family had been to the university before.
T: We have known the main ideas of each part. Part 3 tells us Wang Wei realized his dream. Part 2 tells us Wang Wei tried his best to realize his dream. But Part 1 tells us he received his letter. So it’s different from the usual way of narration. We call it inserting,but we write the narration with Along Narrates as usual.
T: If we rewrite the passage,which part will be the first one?
S: Part 2.
T: And the next and the last?
S: Part 1 and Part 3.
T: This is the usual way,we call it Along Narrates. Here I have a passage like this,and please fill in the blanks on your paper. (展示課件。)

T: Look at Paragraph 1. It tells us Wang Wei’s dream. So in this paragraph,we must write straight to the point. From Paragraph 2,we can know the events about Wang Wei’s dream. So in Paragraph 2,we always show some events. Nothing is impossible if you put your heart into it. This is the outline of Wang Wei’s dream.

T: So we come to the last reading skill. If you understand the passage deeply, grasp the main clues of the passage,then you will know how to read and write(課件展示):Understand the passage deeply, and grasp the main clues of the passage.

Step Four:After-reading
1.Exercises about the reading.
T: It’s time for exercises. Please fill in the blanks with the right words according to the reading.(具體略。)
2. Discussion.
T: We’ve learned about Wang Wei’s dream just now,and it’s time for our discussion. Our topic is how to realize our dreams? Please talk about it in groups of four and then I’ll ask each group report your ideas.(學生分組討論,并匯報。)Let’s share your ideas. (展示課件。)

They are almost,each,step,trying,high, mountain,lose,waiting . Just as the song says,if we keep climbing,we will reach the top of the mountain. I think life is just like a ladder;if we can climb it step by step, we will reach our dream easily! Don’t you think so?

Step Five:Homework
T: OK , I hope you can go to the high school you dream next year. Today’s homework: If your English is OK, please collect some words and phrases about your dream; If your English is better,please write a composition!
