關于neither的用法解析

在許多的英語作業、平時練習乃至中考中都會出現許多學生、考生對neither 的用法模糊不清，把握不準確。現將neither的用法詳細分析如下：

neither 是both 的反義詞，意思是“兩者都不”。

一、neither 用作代詞時，意為“兩者中無一”。常用結構為neither of 加名詞（或賓格代詞），這種結構作主語時，謂語動詞用單數。如：

Neither is good.兩個都不好。

Neither of them is in good health.他們兩個身體都不好。

二、neither 用作形容詞時，意為“兩者都不”，常與單數名詞或代詞連用。如果neither 加單數名詞作主語，謂語動詞用單數。如：

Neither sentence is correct.兩個句子都不對。

三、neither 用作連詞時，常用“neither...nor...”連接兩個相同的句子成分。意為“既不……也不……”。如：The ground must be neither too wet nor too dry.土地一定既不太濕也不太干。用“neither...nor...”連接兩個名詞或代詞作主語時，謂語動詞的人稱和數應與nor 后面的詞保持一致。如：

Neither you nor he is right.你和他都不對。

Neither he nor I am tall.他和我個子都不高。

注意：neither，nor 本身在含義上已表示否定，在使用這一句型時，不能再加no，not 一類的否定詞。如：

This is neither air nor water on the moon.月球上既沒有空氣也沒有水。

隨便說一下，“neither...and...”連接兩個名詞或代詞作主語時，謂語動詞用復數。如：

四、neither 用作副詞時，意為“也不”。常用于否定句，表示前面的情況也適用與另一個人或物。這時，nei?鄄ther 常位于句首，后面用倒裝語序。如：
