On April 4thto 15th, 2016, at the respective invitation of the Marmara Group Foundation of Turkey, Georgian Foundation for Strategic and International Studies (GFSIS) and the Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS) of Iran, Mr. Yu Hongjun, Member of the Committee of Foreign Affairs, CPPCC and Vice-President of the Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament (CPAPD), leading a CPAPD delegation, visited these three countries.

The delegation attended the 19thEurasian Economic Summit hosted by the Marmara Group Foundation in Istanbul, and respectively met with the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Tugrul Turkes, Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly, Mr. Taha Ozhan. The delegation met with the Vice-Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, H.E. Zviad Dzidziguri, and had a working meeting with the Executive President of the GFSIS, Mr. Merab Kakulia and also attended a Dialogue with its counterparts in Georgia. The delegation met with the Iranian Vice Foreign Minister, H.E. Hadi Soliemanpour, and had a working discussion with Director-General of the IPIS, Mr. Mostafa Zahrani.

On 20thApril, CPAPD Secretary General Mr. ZHU Rui met with Mr. Adam Ward, Director of Studites at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS). The two sides exchanged views on possible exchanges and cooperation between them, and on regional peace and security situation as well.

On April 13thto 26th, at the CPAPD invitation, a South Asian delegation consisted of 13 representatives of think tanks specialized on peace and security studies fromIndia,Nepal,PakistanandSri LankavisitedChina. InBeijing, CPAPD Vice President He Jun met with the delegation, and Secretary General Mr. Zhu Rui briefed the delegation aboutChina’s national conditions, political systems and foreign policy and held a work discussion. The delegation called on cultural institutions, paid field inspections and visited sites relevant to cultural heritage preservation, modern agricultural projects, new countryside construction, grass-root party building, hi-tech enterprises and so on inShandongandZhejiangProvinces.

On May 5th, CPAPD Secretary General Mr. Zhu Rui met with the delegation headed by Mr. Farhad Mammadov,director of the Center for Strategic Studies Under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SAM). Mr. Arastu Habibbayli, deputy director of the International Affairs Bureau of Presidential Office of theRepublicofAzerbaijanalso attended the meeting. The two sides exchanged views on mutual exchanges and cooperation as well as on the issues concerning One Belt and One RoadInitiative and regional security situations.

On May 3 to 12, at the invitation by the CPAPD, an African NGO Leadership Delegation consisted of 19 representatives of NGOs, Research Institutes and Media from Ethiopia, South Africa, Tanzania and Zimbabwe visited China.

In Beijing, Mr. YU Hongjun, member of the Committee of Foreign Affairs, CPPCC and CPAPD Vice President, met with the delegation. Secretary General Mr. Zhu Rui briefed the delegation about China’s basic national conditions and foreign policy, and held a working discussion. The delegation also attended the Wanshou Forum, co-organized by the CPAPD and International Department of CCCPC. With the Forum’s focus on NGO’s roles and contribution in the context of global economic governance, the delegation had vivid and lively discussion with dozens of scholars and experts. The delegation made in-depth field-studies to Anhui and Guangdong Provinces.

On May 18th, CPAPD Vice President Mr. YU Hongjun met with Mr. Hadi Soleimanpour, Head of the Center for International Education and Research, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran. The two sides conducted a thorough discussion on issues of common interests as well as the future exchanges and cooperation between the CPAPD and the Centre.

On 16thto 25thJune, at the invitation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria and the Senate of Romania, Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the National Committee, CPPCC and CPAPD President visited Bulgaria and Romania as head of the CPAPD delegation.

Han Qide met with the President of the Bulgarian Assembly, H.E. Ms. Tsacheva, and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Ms. Grozdanova. The delegation also had discussions and exchanges with representatives from Bulgarian National Peace Committee. Han Qide met with the President of the Romanian Senate, H.E. Mr. Tariceanu. The delegation also held working discussions of various institutions, etc..

On June 26thto July 5th, at the invitation by Vietnam Peace Committee (VPC), Laos Committee for Peace and Solidarity (LCPS) and Mongolia Peace and Friendship Organization (MPFO), Ms. Lin Li, a standing committee member of the CPAPD Council headed a 4-member delegation to visit the three countries.

The delegation met with Mr. Tran Duc Loi, Deputy Head of the External Commission of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Communist Party (VCP), Mr. Nguyen Van Huynh, Vice President of the VPC and Mr. Pham Van Chuong, Vice President of Vietnam Peace and Development Foundation respectively. The delegation met with Ms. Sounthone Xayachack, Head of the LPRP Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations. Mr. Khamphan Simmalavong, Chairman of the (LCPS) hosted a work discussion. Mr. D. Zagdjav, President of the MPFO and Mr. Myagmar, President of Mogolian Institute for Geopolitical Studies held a work discussion with the delegation.

From 7thto 16thJuly, a 4-member CPAPD Delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General Tao Tao visited Germany, France and UK. The delegation paid visits to the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt, German Peace Council, European Peace Forum, Le Mouvement de la Paix and the Royal United Services Institute. Besides, TAO Tao delivered a speech at a seminar entitled “Current International Order and China’s role” hosted by the Institute for Higher National Defense Studies in France, and had deep and frank discussions with well-known researchers and scholars from several think-tanks.
