A Study on the Disposing Mode of Food Waste in the City of Dongguan， Guangdong Province

【Abstract】At first，this paper generally introduces the meaning of food waste. Secondly， it briefly analyzes the problems of food waste disposal in Dongguan City， Guangdong Province. At last， to solve the problems mentioned， this paper offers some proposals， including choosing reasonable food waste disposal technologies， determining the scale of disposal and finding reasonable location for the factory.

Introduction： Dongguan City， In Guangdong Province is a prefecture-level city and there is no county under its administrative jurisdiction. In this city， there are thirty two towns and one Songshan Lake Management Committee. Approximately， it has an area of 2，465 square kilometers and a registered population of 1.7 million. As the economy develops in Dongguan City， the industrial economy gets highly developed， and migrant people take up a larger proportion in the whole population of this city. At the same time， the catering industry in Dongguan is also getting highly developed. Therefore， the amount of food waste become larger and larger. According to incomplete statistics， there are about 1000 tons of food waste in Dongguan everyday. It is quite imperative to study the disposing mode of food waste in Dongguan City， Guangdong Province.

1. Generally introduce the food waste

Objectively speaking， food waste refers to the leftovers and waste edible oil generated during food processing or catering service in daily life of citizens.

The food waste occupies a relatively large proportion of urban household garbage.The food waste mainly comes from four sources. The first is the waste generated by urban residents and families， and the garbage collecting locations in public places and the garbage collecting locations in scenic spots.The second is the waste generated in the wholesale and retail markets of food.The third is the waste generated in the hotels， restaurants and all kinds of snack bars.The fourth is the waste generated in government agencies， school canteens and public institutions.

2. The problems of food waste disposal in Dongguan City， Guangdong Province

2.1 The collection of food waste is out of order

As per the relevant statistics， during the process of food waste in Dongguan， bicycles， three-wheel bicycles， motorcycles， tractors and their refitted versions are usually used as transportation facilities at present. After refitting， the bicycles， three-wheel bicycles， motorcycles， tractors can be used to load waste food. However these transportation facilities are not totally watertight and leakages occur easily with a consequence of re-pollution to urban environment. And with the help of proper temperature， fly and mosquito will gather around to ruin the city environment and damage the municipal sanitary.During the process of collecting food waste， in order to reduce the cost， these transportation facilities are usually transport vehicles without licence or certificate to transport food waste. In brief， they have serious influences on both urban environment and city traffic.

2.2 The regulations of disposing food waste is behindhand

At present， there is no laws and regulations which are related with the disposal of food waste in the City of Dongguan City， Guangdong Province. Meanwhile， the city’s catering industry is developing very fast， and there are many locations， scattered all around the city，can generate food waste. According to incomplete statistics， there are more than 6，000 restaurants and canteens which can produce food waste in Dongguan. This statistics just include the the number of catering units in the urban area of Dongguan City. There is no government agency or organization which is responsible for the disposal of food waste. There is no relative regulations the disposal of food waste. So it is very troublesome when for the local authority to deal with the problem of food waste.

3. Conclusion

In a word， to solve the problems of disposing food waste in Dongguan， we should conduct systematical analysis and work out right solutions， such as to construct food waste disposal facilities to process the food waste properly； to make the process of waste food be standardized and reasonable.Thereby， we can solve the problems of food waste disposal in the city of Dongguan， improve the urban ecological environment quality， make a nice city appearance， and build a good foundation for the sustainable development of Dongguan.
