CPAPD International Exchanges
On May 29, 2019,CPAPD Secretary General An Yuejun meets with Mr. Omar Latif, member of Canadian Peace Congress in Beijing. Mr. An and his guest exchanged views on issues of common concern.
From July 15 to 19, 2019, a CPAPD delegation headed by Secretary General An Yuejun visited the DPRK, the delegation had discussions with Mr. Kang Mun Ryol, Vice Chairman of the Korean National Peace Committee (KNPC) and Mr. Kim Chun Chol, Secretary General of the KNPC, Disarmament and Peace Institute affiliated to the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK and Institute of International Studies respectively. It also visited the Old Residence of Kim Il Sung, Juche Thought Tower, Science and Technology Hall, paid inspections to some other public institutions like Pyongyang Teachers’ Training University,Pyongyang Cosmetics Factory,Jiangquan Vegetable Cooperative Farm,as well as their respect to China-DPRK Friendship Tower in Pyongyang and the Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Chinese People's Volunteer Army in Kaesong.

From July 20 to 22, 2019, a CPAPD delegation headed by Secretary General An Yuejun visited Mongolia. During the visit, the delegation met with Mr. Zagdejav, Chairman of Mongolia Peace and Friendship Organization and Deputy Minister of Mining and Heavy Industry, Mr. Myagmar, Director of Mongolian Institute for Geopolitical Studies. It also had discussions with the Department of Multilateral Cooperation of Mongolian Foreign Ministry and Institute of International Affairs of Mongolian Academy of Sciences.
From 31 July to 9 August, 2019, a CPAPD Delegation headed by Deputy Secretary General Dr. Tao Tao visits Norway, Sweden and Denmark, at the invitation of Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO), Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP), CBS Asia Research Center.
During the stay in Norway, the delegation respectively met with experts from the PRIO, Norsk Utenrikspolitisk Institutt (NUPI) and Mayors for Peace. In Sweden, they met with scholars from the ISDP, Utrikespolitiska Institutet (UI), Schiller Institute Sweden, Belt and Road Institute in Sweden (BRIX), Uppsala Peace and Conflict Research Institute, and attended the seminar themed on Peace held by Swedish Peace Council. In Denmark, they met with representatives of Danish Institute for International Studies (DIIS), CBS Asia Research Center and Danish Peace Council.
On Sep. 1, 2019, Secretary General An Yuejun Calls on Mr. Norov, Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at the office of the SCO by appointment, exchanging views on issues of common concern.
From 2 to 9 September 2019, at the invitation of Denis Hurly Peace Institute (South Africa), Namibia Institute for Democracy, and Institute for Peace and Security Studies(Ethiopia). Mr. Zhou Li, Vice President of CPAPD and former Vice Minister of the IDCPC, led a CPAPD delegation on a good-will visit to South Africa, Namibia and Ethiopia.
The delegation had extensive exchanges with political parties, peace organizations and security think tanks in the three countries. In South Africa, the delegation met with Ace Magashule, Secretary General of the African National Congress (ANC), Tony Yengeni, Chairman of the ANC Committee on Peace and Security, and David Mahlobo, Vice-Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation. The delegation also had working meetings with members of the South Africa ruling coalition, Mzameni Richard Mdakana, President of South African National Civic Organization, and scholars from Safety and Violence Initiative of University of Cape Town respectively.
In Namibia, the delegation met with Marco Hausiku, Deputy Secretary-General of the SWAPO Party and head of the SWAPO Party School, and had working meetings with scholars from Namibia Institute for Democracy, Namibia University of Science and Technology and Namibia Institute of Public Management respectively. The delegation, in the name of CPAPD, also organized the Seminar on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics and Socialism with Namibian Characteristics together with the Chinese Embassy to Namibia and Namibia Institute of Democracy, where Zhou Li delivered a keynote speech entitled Stay True to Our Original Aspiration and Build a Shared Future. The event was widely covered by both Chinese and Namibian news organizations.
In Ethiopia, the delegation met with Dr. Temesgen Burka, State Minister for Prime Minister’s Office of Democratic Systems Building Center, and had working meetings with scholars from Ethiopian Institute for Peace and Security Studies and Ethiopian Foreign Relations Strategic Studies Institute respectively.
From September 17 to 21, Japanese Association for Inheriting and Developing Murayama Statement Delegation at the invitation by the CPAPD, visited China. In Beijing, Secretary General An Yuejun held a work discussion. The delegation had a meeting with the scholars from the Institute of Modern History, CASS, and visited Beijing Research Center of Huawei. On September 18, the delegation specially visited the Museum of the War of Chinese People’s Resistance against Japanese Aggression and presented a bouquet to express their regret and respect. They were also interviewed by Chinese media, like CCTV, the Beijing News, and Beijing Daily. Besides Beijing, the delegation also visited Shannxi Province, where they had exchanges with professors majored in the history of Sui and Tang Dynasties, and visited the Memorial of Xi'an Incident, the Memorial of the Xi’an Office for Eighth Route Army and Shaanxi History Museum.
On 23 Sep. 2019, CPAPD Secretary General An Yuejun Meets with Dr. Akkan Suver, President of Marmara Group Foundation in Beijing. Mr. An and his guest exchanged views on issues of common concern.
From 15 to 16 Oct. 2019, the 9th China-U.S. Civil Peace Forum jointly organized by the Chinese People's Association for Peace and Disarmament and the American Friends Service Committee was successfully held in Beijing. On November 15, the forum held a seminar on "40 years of China-U.S. Relations: Retrospect and Prospect". On June 16, the Forum held a dialogue on "Jointly Promoting the Comprehensive, Coordinated and Stable Development of China-U.S. Relations". Wang Yajun, CPAPD Adviser and Vice Minister of IDCPC, and Alan Beebe, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in PRC attended the forum dialogue and delivered a speech. More than 50 experts and scholars were present.
On 23 Oct. 2019, Dr. TAO Tao, Deputy Secretary General of the CPAPD met with Mr. Niklas Swanstrom, Executive Director of Institute for Security and Development Policy (ISDP). Dr. TAO and his guests exchanged views on issues of common concern.
From Oct. 23 to Nov. 1, 2019, at the invitation of Marmara Strategic and Social Research Foundation, Morocco Diplomatic Foundation, and the Afro-Asian People’s Solidarity Organization, a CPAPD delegation led by CPAPD Secretary General AnYuejun paid visits to three countries.
During the visit in Turkey, the delegation had a working conference with Marmara Strategic and Social Research Foundation, and exchanged ideas with former Vice Prime Minister of Turkey, Mr. Tugrul Turkes, Representative of Grand National Assembly of Turkey, experts from Istanbul Gelisim University, Sabanci University, and Institute of Strategic Thinking respectively.
In Morocco, the delegation had a working conference with Morocco Diplomatic Foundation, met with Avdol, Spokesperson of Morocco Palace, Nizar Baraka, General Secretary of Parti de L’lstiqlal, and held discussions with Nasser Bouchiba, President of Africa-China Cooperation Association for Development, and Ministry of National Education.
In Egypt, besides having a working session with the Afro-Asian People’s Solidarity Organization, the delegation also held informal discussions with Boutros Ghali Foundation for Peace and Knowledge and Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs.
On November 7, 2019. Wang Yajun, Vice-minister of the IDCPC and Adviser of the CPAPD Meets with the delegation of the Korean National Peace Committee (KNPC) headed by O Ryong Il, a presidium member of KNPC.
Wang Yajun briefed on the just-concluded fourth plenary session of the 19th CPC Central Committee and had an in-depth exchange of views with the DPRK side on further strengthening the traditional friendship and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
Extending congratulation to China on its great achievements since the founding of the People's Republic of China 70 years ago, O Ryong Il expressed the wishes to learn from China's experience in economic and social development through this visit and make greater contributions to strengthening the friendship between the two Parties, countries and peoples.
From November 23 to December 1, CPAPDVice President Yu Hongjun visits Costa Rica and Colombia at the invitation of Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress and Corporación Pensamiento Siglo XXI of Colombia.
In Costa Rica, the delegation paid a visit to H.E. Mr. Oscar Arias, the former President of Costa Rica, had meetings with First Secretary Ms. Laura GUIDO, First Deputy Secretary Ms. Paola VALLADARES, and President of Costa Rica - China Parliamentary Friendship Group Mr. FONSECA of Legislative Assembly. The delegation held the Dialogue between China – Costa Rica think tanks with the title of “China’s Diplomacy in the New Era and the Modernization of National Governance” with the assistance of Costa Rica branch of Latin American Academy of Social Sciences. Besides, the delegation also had work discussion with Arias Foundation for Peace and Human Progress and visited University for Peace.
In Colombia, the delegation had meetings with Mr. RAMOS, Director for Asia, Africa and Oceania, and Mr. ARAYA, Acting Director for Multilateral Diplomacy, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, had work discussion with Corporación Pensamiento Siglo XXI and visited Confucius Institute at the Jorge Tadeo Lozano University.
On December 23, 2019, CPAPD Deputy Secretary General Dr. Tao Tao met with Mr. Bhaskar Koirala, President of Nepal Institute for International and Strategic Studies, exchanging views on issues of common concern like future exchanges between the two institutes.
