The Chinese government recently upgraded the protection level of Chinese pangolins［穿山甲］to the top level, a crucial move that is expected to boost［促進；增加］rescue efforts and strengthen protection for the endangered species［物種］. In the past decades, the species’ population has witnessed［目擊］a sharp decline［下降；衰退］due to habitat［棲息地］destruction, rampant［猖獗的］poaching［偷獵］and smuggling［走私；偷運］. Local media reported that pangolin scales, which were believed to promote blood circulation and reduce inflammation in traditional Chinese medicine, have been officially removed from the Chinese Pharmacopeia, meaning the scales will no longer be recommended to be used as a medicine.

2 Roadside food stalls are back多地放松對路邊攤管制

Cities around China started allowing people to set up roadside booths［路邊攤］or food stalls on streets.The vendors［小販；賣主］had been banned to keep the cities clean, and their return is expected to help increase people’s incomes and revive local economies hit hard by the novel corona virus outbreak. In Changchun, capital of Jilin province, night markets and food stalls can be opened in designated areas in parks, public squares and empty spaces as long as they don’t interrupt traffic and local life. They also have to pass environmental protection assessments［評定］. People are also allowed to set up temporary［暫時的，臨時的］roadside businesses,which were previously targeted by city administrators［城管］because they often caused traffic jams and pollution. Chengdu has designated［指定］2234 roadside business areas, 82 promotion areas on streets near large shopping malls and 17,891 vending spots, creating more than 100,000 jobs, the city government said.

3 Post-pandemic office debuts后疫情時期辦公間亮相

Egyptian architect［建筑師］and designer Mohamed Radwan created a system of office pod for the post-COVID-19 workplace, for a project called “Q.workntine”.Last month, the design was recognized with an award in the Responsible Design category at the DNA Paris Design Awards. Radwan's design creates individual［單獨的］pods for workers. The pods could be a relatively safe solution for workers whose jobs are difficult or impossible to do at home. Radwan says that the pod system can maintain［維持］the same number of employees. Inside, the workspace looks like any typical cubicle［小隔間］. Pods each have automatic doors that operate with facial recognition, so there’s no need to touch and contaminate［污染，弄臟］them. The pods will be made of a non-porous material for easy disinfection［消毒，殺菌］. Ventilation fans with built-in air purifiers prevent the virus spreading among coworkers. The door is acrylic［丙烯酸的］, with an airtight seal. Hexagonal［六邊的］pods are arranged in a hive［蜂巢］shape that can accommodate different office layouts. 4 HBO drops“Gone with the Wind”HBO 下架電影《亂世佳人》

“Gone With The W ind［《亂世佳人》］” was removed from the HBO Max streaming platform on June 9th, as mass protests against racism and police brutality prompt television networks to reassess their offerings. The multiple Oscar-winning US Civil War epic released in 1939 remains the highestgrossing movie of all time adjusted for inflation,but its depiction of contented slaves and heroic slaveholders［奴隸主］has garnered criticism. “‘Gone With The Wind’ is a product of its time and depicts some of the ethnic and racial prejudices that have, unfortunately, been commonplace in American society,” an HBO Max spokesperson said.
