On the present situation and development prospect of Chinese Watercolor Painting

Abstract： After nearly a hundred years of development， Chinese watercolor painting has taken on a diversified look and gradually penetrated into the public life.While we are delighted， we should also pay attention to its future trend. Combining with international art forms， we should create ethnic elements deeply， reflect the spirit of The Times， and truly shoulder the responsibility of developing Chinese watercolor industry.

Ⅰ. Overview of the development of watercolor painting in China

1978 - now： the reform and prosperity period of Chinese watercolor painting.During this period， the national watercolor and powder exhibitions were held for many times.

When the sixth national art exhibition was held in 1984， watercolor painting was set up separately for the first time.With the increasing expansion of the author's team， a large number of other painters turned to watercolor painting， art level rapidly improved.

In the ninth national art exhibition in 1999， watercolor painting reached a new height and won three gold MEDALS respectively with Chinese painting and oil painting.This greatly enriched the forms and techniques of expression， and initially formed the style of "Chinese watercolor painting" with Chinese national characteristics， time spirit and personal style.

Ⅱ.Analysis of the current situation of watercolor painting language

When Chinese national art collides with foreign art， a new spark is bound to be ignited.In the Chinese watercolor painting field， there are many pioneers who are bold in thinking and down-to-earth， and they have also achieved fruitful results.However， the lack of time concept and innovation consciousness makes watercolor painting， as a non-mainstream painting， face more thinking and challenges.

The theoretical study of painting can be divided into several categories， such as "technique"， "creation"， etc. Throughout the watercolor paintings in previous years， the trend presented in the past few years is that the artistic personality is not prominent， the form of excessive pursuit， resulting in subject matter repetition， empty picture.If any kind of artistic creation lacks real life experience， it cannot have profound spiritual connotation， let alone the works will have visual impact.Therefore， the mind is the life of the work of art.

The use of tools and materials should be viewed dialectically from the following two aspects. First， if too much attention is paid to the use of tools and materials， the development of watercolor painting will be seriously restricted.In addition， the characteristics of watercolor painting materials themselves determine that the long-term preservation of its works is also a very difficult problem， and this limitation makes it lose a lot of opportunities to show itself.

（2） the factors of inheriting and developing watercolor painting

Do a thinking artist， adhere to their own independent personality， thinking and painting style.Secondly， to have a deep understanding of the traditional culture， we should devote ourselves to the study of the national culture.Only by deeply understanding the cultural deposits on which the tradition depends， and recognizing the advantages and disadvantages in the development， can we effectively learn from them.With the increasing number of watercolor painters and the continuous upgrading of their skills， it is a common and realistic problem that the awareness of The Times is not strong.

III. Reflections on the development prospect of watercolor painting in the new era

As we all know， the emergence of painting is closely related to the development of society.Since the 1980s， the social productivity has been improved， the people's living standard has been improved， and the spring of artistic development has been ushered in.The continuous reform of China's watercolor， marginalization， mutual melting and diversification of the development trend of Chinese watercolor art is the only way.

However， how to find the intersection with the development of watercolor ontology language under this trend？This has also become an important topic of debate in Chinese watercolor circles.On the one hand， wash wet， carefree is its language characteristics， but why can't watercolor as heavy as oil painting？A senior watercolor painter in China said， "I have painted watercolor all my life， but I still haven't jumped out of the circle of foreign watercolor painting."This sentence no doubt sounded the alarm， indeed， the development and reform of Chinese watercolor art， imperative.

On the other hand， we can not ignore the characteristics of watercolor while learning from other paintings.The creation and development of watercolor paintings should be combined with international art forms， and the cultural traditions of China should be explored in multiple directions， so as to explore， feel and grasp the deeper connotation， and let the beauty and love of nature appear in people's eyes.

Conclusion

Artistic creation needs rich experience and imagination， and cannot be separated from the profound accumulation of real life.Artists should not only create with their feet firmly on the ground， but also be full of romanticism and guide their own creation and development with the correct world view， outlook on life and values.Chinese literature and art has a profound tradition of romanticism， our art creation should be based on the reality， bold breakthrough， dare to try， let the Chinese watercolor in the world of painting forest.
