abnormal 異常的(形容詞)
(adjective) Describing something that is not usual or expected.
EXAMPLE: I'm worried because my doctor said there were someabnormal results from the medical tests I take every year.
我有些焦慮,因為我的醫生說,我的年度身體檢查有幾項結果異常。
blare 1.(名詞)刺耳的噪音;2.(不及物動語)發生刺耳的噪音
1. (noun) Loud, unpleasant, and annoying noise.
EXAMPLE: The blare of popular dance music from the wedding party at our hotel kept us awake until early in the morning.

2. (intransitive verb) To make loud, unpleasant, and annoying noise.EXAMPLE: The angry man's voice blared through the thin walls of ourhotel room.

(transitive verb) To work against something unwanted by matching itwith another? factor or approach so stability is achieved.

1. (transitive verb) To give a name, title, or designation to someone,often in jest.
EXAMPLE: Because my younger brother was not as tall as other members of our family, he was dubbed “shorty” all his life.

2. (transitive verb) To transfer or add new recorded material to an existing audio recording.

(noun) Excessive petty criticism.
EXAMPLE: Over a period of years, my hard-working and gentle uncle grew very tired of my caustic aunt's continual fault inding.

shrubbery 灌木叢(名詞)
(noun) A group of small bushes.

capital flight 資本外逃
The rapid movement of savings and other investments out of a country that is viewed by investors as unstable.
EXAMPLE: Increases in violence throughout the impoverished country is leading to widespread capitallight.

fair and square 公平公正
Describing something achieved or performed honestly in a legal and reasonable? manner.
EXAMPLE: If everyone plays the game by the rules, I am sure I can win fair and square.

Rough command meaning “Quit bothering me!”
EXAMPLE: My oldest daughter used to become quite impatient and shout “Get out of my face!” when her little sister pestered her too much.

in limbo 懸而未決
Describing something in a condition of neglect or suspension in which final outcomes are uncertain.
EXAMPLE: My job application will remain in limbo until the company hires a new manager to review it.

main drag 大街(俚語)
(U.S. SLANG) The principal street of a town or neighborhood, usually lined with shops and services.
EXAMPLE: Our failed family restaurant would have been more successful if it had been located on our town's main drag.

nod off 打瞌睡
To fall asleep, usually brie ly.
EXAMPLE: The speech was so long and boring that several people in the audience began to nod off.

To settle a bill; to pay an account. (NOTE: usually a small amount)
EXAMPLE: At the end of our long meal in the restaurant it was time for my friend and me to pony up and leave.
