Since the publication of the first issue of Voice of Friendship in June 1983， we have received care and support from our readers， contributors and personages of various circles at home and abroad. It is for their care and support that we have carried on till today. We in the Editorial Board of Voice of Friendship would like to avail ourselves of this opportunity to extend to you our heartfelt gratitude.

Being a journal of the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries， Voice of Friendship takes enhancing people’s friendship， furthering international cooperation， safeguarding world peace and promoting common development—the aims of the Association—as its own. It publicizes China’s reform and opening up and the achievements in its modernization drive and introduces the work of the Association and the friendship-with-China activities sponsored by friendship organizations and personages of other countries， contributing its bit to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendship between the people of China and other countries.
