The credit cards informationstolen incident happened inthe US has already influ-enced Chinese credit card keepers.During the past 10 months， about9，000 Chinese credit cards' informa-tion leaked out.

Ifyou used credit cards in the USfromAugust 1，2004 to May 27，2005，your credit card's information mayave leaked out. For the sake ofafety， you should inform the issuebank to change it.

Visa Officials show that even ifthe leak out of the information causedbealing， according to the custom， theisue bank will not impute the risk tocard keepers.

The Reaction of Banks

ICBC(Industrial and Commer-cial Bank of China) Replaces thePRoblem Cards to New Cards

After Master and Visa assured allthe influenced credit cards， they haveinformed all the member banks andfinancial in-stitutesto givethocrecht cards keepers some fol-low up remediation.

After receiving the relevant inter-national credit card organization's no-rice， ICBC Credit Card Center showedthat among the peony internationalcards they issued， there were around500 leaked out and this number maycontinue increasing. Those 500 creditcard keepers were separated all overthe country and there are more creditcard holders in Beijing than other ar-eas. At present， we have not found anymoney losing case.

Li Lei， Vice president of ICBCPeony Card Center， expressed thatICBC has already taken resolute mea-sures to avoid fraud and protect theinterest of the card holders. They willdeal with those cards one by one andhandle them in time.

Those measures include: to in-form those card holders at the ~~t timethrough mobile phone， telephone， let-ters and replace the cards free ofcharge; according to the most recentbank statement and on the relevant is-sue， remind those credit card holdersto be on guard; actively communicatewith international credit card organi-zation to follow this incident and takesome further measure at any time.

China Merchants Bank CreditCard Center shows that they will takethe responsible attitude to solve thisproblem. Upon finding any credit cardholders of their bank， they will imme-diately inform the credit card holders.
