The Seminar on Chinese Pattern of Economic Development, co-sponsored by the China-Arab Friendship Association (CAFA) and the Bahrain Centre for Studies and Research (BCSR), was held in Bahrain on November 4, 2008. Jia Ling, secretary general of the CAFA; Prof. Zhao Zhong- xiu, dean of the School of International Trade and Economics of the University of International Business and Economics, together with personages of the political and business circles of Bahrain and other Arab countries, local entrepreneurs and investors, attended the seminar.
Prof. Zhao Zhongxiu delivered a report entitled Global Financial Crisis and China’sEconomic Development Mode, in which he talked about the current international financial crisis and other hot issues and China’s successful experience in reform and opening up in the past three decades. His report was well received and highly appraised by the participants. The event was reported by major media such as the Bahrain State Television, the Gulf News and Ayam. Chinese Ambassador to Bahrain Li Zhiguo was present at the seminar.
During the seminar, CAFA Secretary General Jia Ling and BCSR Secretary General Abdulla Al Sadiq signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation on behalf of their respective organizations. The two sides will cooperate in holding seminars, special training courses, etc. with the aim to further expand channels of cooperation between the CAFA and the Gulf countries including Bahrain.
Founded by the King of Bahrain, the BCSR is under the direct leadership of the Crown Prince and its chairman is appointed by the King.
