Zhejiang Oriental Ethnic and Folk Art Troupe, an art business based in Taizhou in central Zhejiang Province, finished its 39 shows in 21 days and nights in Taiwan and came back to Taizhou on August 4.
The troupe participated in an international rain festival in Yilan, a city in Taiwan Province. The festival started on July 11 and will come to an end on August 23. It is the first ever visit to Taiwan by a private troupe from Zhejiang. The shows by the 35-member troupe were hugely successful.
The troupe arrived in Yilan on July 9 and started rehearsals on July 10. The troupe starred at the opening ceremony. The troupe from Zhejiang was not the only visiting performance groups. There were groups from South Korea and island nations in South Pacific. However, the Oriental Troups performance was the most acclaimed. It was the last and therefore the most important show at the opening gala. The performance was entitled Millennium Fashion of China, a show of passion. The audience cheered and took photographs. The show brought down the house.
To prepare for the cultural exchange, the troupe had rehearsed for more than a month. The shows were more than passion. They also included many elements of the Mongolian, Korean and Miao ethnic groups, combined the traditional with the modern, and displayed elegance and fashion.
Liu Yanjun, the art director of the troupe, noted that the multiple-ethnic style both reflected the cultural essence of the Chinese nation and conveyed a passionate blessing for the Taiwan compatriots. The 22-year-old Zhang Jingwen presented a Korean dance. The passionate girl comments that she reacted positively and excitedly to the warm response of the audience.
The art troupe caused a huge stir in Taiwan and audiences flocked in to watch the fascinating shows. The director of the Yilan Culture Bureau personally issued a letter of appreciation to the troupe. The troupes exotic shows were widely covered in major news media in the island province.
