In 1980s when I studied in Germany, I visited Siemens Mu-seum of Siemens, in order to get an understahding of thedevelopment history of Siemens, this century-old brand. Ihave always studied transnational corporations assumingSiemens is an important benchmark. Two years ago, Siemenswas caught in commercial bribery, which made I wondered howsuch a large-scale and century-old brand could commit thatbig corruption. After the case was settled in 2008 in the UnitedStates, I consider why Siemens had this irregular operation andhow it dealt with the irregularities, against the background ofglobalization. In June last year, I visited Siemens headquarterin Germany, and had a talk with compliance department of Sie-mens China when returned to Beijing. Meanwhile, we visitedten plus other multinational companies to learn their experi-ences and practices in compliance.
