After graduating, John Gong joined Texas Instru-ments (TI) which was later bought by Siemens, and worked as an engineer engaged in technical work. As an engineer, he had to travel around the U.S. for many differ-ent projects, so he had opportunities to deal with a variety of different customers. With this accumulation of experi-ence, John could often get more substantial orders from customers, in addition to finishing his technical work.Gradually, the technical engineer successfully switched to a sales and marketing position. In the following years,John became General Manager of the Western Region in Matsushita Group, in charge of Matsushita's business in the western part of the U.S., and later became Gen-eral Manager of the Asia-Pacific region of the American company Entivity. \"From engineer to sales and marketing, from branch manager to regional manager and then to the manager responsible for the whole Asia-Pacific area, my responsibilities expanded from 5 states in the U.S. to 11 states and finally to all of the countries in the Asia-Pacific region, which gave me many opportunities to learn different cultures and master the skills of managing a company. My self-confidence again drove me to act. I thought to myself,\"I would do even better if I can have my own company.' So I began to plan and prepare for setting up my own company,\"John told the reporter.
