On February 22, an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale struck Christchurch, the second largest city in New Zealand, causing heavy casualties and economic losses. The CPAFFC and the China-Oceania Friendship Association (COFA) via the New Zealand Embassy in China contributed 100,000 RMB Yuan to the New Zealand-China Friendship Society to aid the relief work.
On February 23, CPAFFC President Chen Haosu went to the New Zealand Embassy in Beijing and handed over the donation to Charge D’Affaires Mrs. Pam Chong Dunn. He passed on COFA President Liao Hui’s letter of sympathy. Mrs. Dunn, on behalf of the ambassador, accepted the donation and expressed her gratitude to the CPAFFC and COFA for their sincere help.
