

A delegation of the China-Japan Friendship Association (CJFA) led by its Vice President Jing Dunquan visited Tokyo, Shizuoka and kamakura of Japan from February 20 to 27. While in Tokyo, Vice President Jing and his party made courtesy calls on Yukio Hatoyama, former Japanese Prime Minister; Takahiro Yokomichi, Speaker of the House of Representatives; Seiji Maehara, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Satsuki Eda, Minister of Justice, Banri Kaieda, Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry; Ryu Matsumoto, Minister of Environment, Sadakazu Tanigaki, President of the Liberal Democratic Party; Natsuo Yamaguchi, Chief Representative of the New Komeito Party, and members of the Democratic Party, the LDP, the New Komeito Party and other Parties in the Diet, and exchanged views with them on advancing Sino-Japanese relations. They held meetings with leaders of major friendship-with-China organizations and reached consensus on further strengthening cooperation and vigorously carrying out people-to-people exchanges between China and Japan to enhance the friendly feelings of the two peoples for each other. During the visit, Jing Dunquan also attended activities to mark the Mount Fuji Day sponsored by the Shizuoka Prefectural Government and paid a visit to the family of the late Ikuo Harayama, famous Japanese painter who had served as president of the Japan-China Friendship Association.
