The proposal of donating a bronze bust of Victor Hugo to Yuan-mingyuan was initiated by the Feder-ation of the French-Chinese Associa-tions (FFCA). Today we feel fortu-nate to see this bust standing here andon its base carved the famous \"Letterto Captain Butler\" written by Hugo tostrongly condemn the outrageouslooting of Yuanmingyuan committedby the Anglo-French allied forces in1860.
