禮貌“法則”

與人交往，禮貌先行。若想用英語表達一種謙虛，以示禮貌，除語調變化之外，更多的還與措辭有關。本文擬對常用的禮貌表達作一簡介。

1. 句首避免使用I

It is hoped that you’ll have a chance to visit China again.

希望您再有機會來中國訪問。

There’s something I’d like to talk to you about.

有件事我想跟你談談。

May I know your name？

請問尊姓大名？

2. 用疑問句代替祈使句

Would you please show me the way to the nearest science center？

請問到最近的科技中心怎么走？

Will you come again tomorrow morning，Mr. James？

詹姆斯先生，您明天上午再來一次好嗎？

3. 以could，might，would等情態動詞代替can，may，will等

Would Tuesday morning at ten suit you？

星期二上午十點對您合適嗎？

Could you come to my office sometime this week？

您是否可以于本周什么時候到我辦公室來一下？

Might I use your computer a minute？

我是否可以借用一下您的電腦？

4. 使用插入成分或附加語

This is not the one I want， I’m afraid.

這恐怕不是我想要的那個。

How much did you pay for your new iPhone， if I may ask？

請問您花多少錢買的這新智能手機？

You may keep my car longer if you like.

您要是愿意可以繼續用我的車。

If you don’t mind， I’d like to turn on the radio.

您要是不反對，我想打開收音機。

I wonder if we could make it some other time.

我們可另找時間嗎？

5. 用進行時代替一般時

Shall / Will you be going to the party？

您要去參加這個聚會嗎？（此句比Will you go to the party？語氣婉轉）

We’ll be expecting you for lunch，Miss Hill.

希爾小姐，我們等您來吃中飯。

I’m hoping to hear from you soon.

希望不久就會收到您的來信。

6. 用過去進行時代替現在進行時，用一般過去時代替一般現在時

I was calling about the trip tomorrow，Mr. Henry.

亨利先生，我打電話給您想詢問一下明天旅游的事兒。

What did you want me to do？

您要我做什么？

I hoped that you would do me a favor.

我希望您能幫我一個忙。

7. 用Would you be so kind as to...句型

Would you be so kind as to pass me the salt？

勞駕把鹽遞給我。

8. 用be sorry but...等致歉性詞語開頭

I’m sorry but I have some more questions to ask you.

對不起，我還有幾個問題要請您解答。
