A Sri Lanka foundation delegation visits China. At the CPAPD invitation, the Sri Lankan Pathfinder Foundation delegation led by Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, Vice Chair of the Foundation visited China 13 -19 January 2013. Ma Wenpu, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, NPC and CPAPD Vice President met the delegation. Zhu Rui, CPAPD Secretary-general hosted working discussions with the group and shared exchanges of views on regional and international issues of common interest. The delegation also called on Ministry of Agriculture and State Administration of Tourism, and toured Changzhou city.
A mini-seminar is held. On 28 February 2013, Mr. Owen Greene, Chair of UK SaferWorld Council and Mr. Ranga Gworo, Coordinator for Sudan project had a small seminar with the CPAPD, briefing its conflict sensitivity concept and its application in Sudan. The two sides had wonderful discussions on how to carry out their work in countries and regions with conflicts, enhance awareness of conflict sensitivity, give full considerations to concerns and interests of various sides, and prevent or avoid projects risks.
On March 27, 2013, five researchers led by Prof. Seongwhun Cheon of Korea Institute for National Unification visited the CPAPD. The two sides shared views on the Korean Peninsula situation and cooperation between the two NGOs.
On April 9, 2013, Dr. Jason Tower, representative of the American Friends Service Committee for East Asia visited the CPAPD and exchanged ideas on cooperation on the 5thChina-U.S. Peace Forum.
On April 10, 2013, Ms. Renata Lok-Dessallien, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in China visited the CPAPD and exchanged ideas on matters related to observing the International Day of Peace for 2013.
An Armenian delegation visits China. Invited by the CPAPD, a delegation of Peace Committee of Armenia led by its President Dr. Grigor Peterosyan visited China May 3-10, 2013. CPAPD Vice President Wang Guangtao met the delegation and CPAPD Secretary-general Zhu Rui hosted a working seminar at which candid exchanges were shared for further cooperation between the two sides. In addition to Beijing, the delegation also toured Xi’an and met by Xi’an Deputy Mayor Huang Haiqing, and visited the GINWA Grouop whose Chairman of the Board and CPAPD Executive Council Member Wu Yijian met the delegation.
A CPAPD Delegation visits Sri Lanka. At the cordial invitation of the Pathfinder Foundation (PF), Mr. Zhu Rui, CPAPD Secretary-general, led a 12-member delegation consisting of the CPAPD council members for a working visit to Sri Lanka from May 5-11, 2013. The visit was designated to promote China-Sri Lanka concrete cooperation from NGO’s perspective and consolidate the substantive foundation for the bilateral relations. In Colombo, Acting Minister of Investment Promotion, Hon. Faiszer Mustapha hosted a breakfast meeting for the delegation, introducing Sri Lankan facilitating policies of welcoming foreign investment from the perspective of legislation. Mr. Milinda Moragoda, the PF founder, senior adviser to the President of Sri Lanka and former minister of Tourism and Justice, chaired two meetings for the delegation. Mr. Bernard Goonetilleke, PF Chairman, former Ambassador to China and the U.S., chaired one working session with the delegation. PF Deputy Chairman Dr. Indrajit Coomaraswamy, and the Executive Director Luxman Siriwardena co-chaired a dialogue meeting with the delegation. At the meetings, candid and comprehensive explorations were made on how to strengthen the tangible cooperation and exchanges between the two organizations after signing the memorandum last July.
