一切以教育為先

2012年11月10日，為表彰巴基斯坦少女英雄馬拉拉·尤薩夫扎伊為爭取婦女和兒童受教育權所做的努力，聯合國將馬拉拉的生日定為“馬拉拉日”。2013年7月12日，馬拉拉·尤薩夫扎伊在自己16歲生日這天出席聯合國青年大會并發表了一篇有著特殊意義的演講，再次表明自己將繼續為爭取婦女和兒童受教育權而奮斗的決心，并呼吁和號召人們重視教育，為教育事業的未來而努力。

I don't know where to begin my speech. I don't know what people would be expecting me to say. Thank you to every person who has prayed for my fast recovery and new life. I cannot believe how much love people have shown me. Thank you to the children whose innocent words encouraged me. Thank you to my elders whose prayers strengthened me. I would like to thank my nurses， doctors and the staff of the hospitals in Pakistan and the UK and the UAE government who have helped me to get better and recover my strength.

Dear brothers and sisters， do remember one thing： Malala Day is not my day. Today is the day of every woman， every boy and every girl who have raised their voice for their rights. There are hundreds of human rights activists and social workers who are not only speaking for their rights， but who are struggling to achieve their goal of peace， education and equality. Thousands of people have been killed by the terrorists and millions have been injured. I am just one of them. So here I stand， one girl among many. I speak not for myself， but for those without a voice can be heard， those who have fought for their rights， their right to live in peace， their right to be treated with dignity， their right to equality of opportunity， their right to be educated.

Dear friends， on October 9， 2012， the Taliban shot me on the left side of my forehead. They shot my friends， too. They thought that the bullet would silence us， but they failed. And then out of that silence came thousands of voices. The terrorists thought they would change my aims and stop my ambitions. But nothing changed in my life except this： weakness， fear and hopelessness died. Strength， power and courage were born. I am the same Malala. My ambitions are the same. My hopes are the same. And my dreams are the same.

Dear sisters and brothers， I am not against anyone. Neither am I here to speak in terms of personal revenge against the Taliban or any other terrorist group. I am here to speak for the right of education of every child. I want education for the sons and daughters of the Taliban and all the terrorists and extremists. I do not even hate the Talib who shot me. Even if there is a gun in my hand and he stands in front of me， I would not shoot him. This is the legacy of change that I have inherited from Martin Luther King， Nelson Mandela and Mohammed Ali Jinnah. And this is the forgiveness that I have learned from my father and from my mother. This is what my soul is telling me： be peaceful and love everyone.

Dear sisters and brothers， we realise the importance of light when we see darkness. We realise the importance of our voice when we are silenced. In the same way， when we were in Swat， the north of Pakistan， we realised the importance of pens and books when we saw the guns. The wise saying \"The pen is mightier than the sword\" was true. The extremists were and they are afraid of books and pens. The power of education frightens them. And I remember there was a boy in our school who was asked by a journalist： \"Why are the Taliban against education？\" He answered very simply by pointing to his book， and he said： \"A Talib doesn't know what is written inside this book.\"

Pakistan is a peace-loving， democratic country. Pashtuns1） want education for their daughters and sons. Peace is a necessity for education. In many parts of the world， especially Pakistan and Afghanistan， terrorism， wars and conflicts stop children to go to their schools. We are really tired of these wars. Women and children are suffering in many ways in many parts of the world. In India， innocent and poor children are victims of child labor. Many schools have been destroyed in Nigeria. Young girls have to do domestic child labor and are forced to get married at an early age. Poverty， ignorance， injustice， racism and the deprivation2） of basic rights are the main problems， faced by both men and women.

Dear fellows， today， I am focusing on women's rights and girls' education because they are suffering the most. There was a time when women social activists asked men to stand up for their rights. But this time we will do it by ourselves. I am not telling men to step away from speaking for women's rights. Rather， I am focusing on women to be independent to fight for themselves.

So dear sisters and brothers， now it's time to speak up3）. So today， we call upon the world leaders to change their strategic policies in favour of peace and prosperity. We call upon the world leaders that all of these deals must protect women and children's rights. A deal that goes against the rights of women is unacceptable. We call upon all the governments to ensure free， compulsory education all over the world for every child. We call upon all the governments to fight against terrorism and violence， to protect children from brutality4） and harm. We call upon the developed nations to support the expansion of education opportunities for girls in the developing world. We call upon all the communities to be tolerant， to reject prejudice based on caste5）， creed， sect6）， colour， religion or agenda to ensure freedom and equality for women so they can flourish. We cannot all succeed when half of us are held back. We call upon our sisters around the world to be brave， to embrace the strength within themselves and realise their full potential.

Dear brothers and sisters， we want schools and education for every child's bright future. We will continue our journey with our destination of peace and education. No one can stop us. We will speak up for our rights and we will bring change with our voice. We believe in the power and the strength of our words. Our words can change the whole world because we are all together， united for the cause of education. And if we want to achieve our goal， then let us empower7） ourselves with the weapon of knowledge and let us shield ourselves with unity and togetherness.

Dear brothers and sisters， we must not forget that millions of people are suffering from poverty， injustice and ignorance. We must not forget that millions of children are out of their schools. We must not forget that our sisters and brothers are waiting for a bright， peaceful future. So let us wage8） a glorious struggle against illiteracy9）， poverty and terrorism. Let us pick up our books and our pens. They are the most powerful weapons. One child， one teacher， one book and one pen can change the world. Education is the only solution. Education first.

我不知道從何說起。我不知道人們期望我說什么。感謝每一個祈禱我能盡快康復并開始新生活的人。我不敢相信人們給予了我那么多的愛。謝謝孩子們，你們純真的話語鼓勵了我。謝謝我的長輩們，你們的祈禱給了我力量。我還要感謝幫助我慢慢好轉、恢復健康的巴基斯坦、英國和阿聯酋的醫生、護士以及醫務人員。

親愛的兄弟姐妹們，請記住一點：馬拉拉日并不是我的節日。今天是每一個曾為自己的權利而奔走呼號的婦女、男孩和女孩的節日。有數百位人權活動家和社會工作者不僅為自己的權利而發聲，更為了實現和平、教育和平等的目標而斗爭。數以千計的人們命喪恐怖分子之手，數以百萬計的人們則背負傷痛。我不過是其中一員罷了。所以我站在這里，只是無數女孩中的一個。我的發言并不是為了自己，而是為了那些意見和愿望無法被聽到的人，那些為了自己的權利而斗爭的人，這樣的權利包括生活在和平之世的權利、受到尊重的權利、得到平等機會的權利和接受教育的權利。

親愛的朋友們，2012年10月9日，塔利班朝我額頭左側開了一槍，他們還射傷了我的朋友。他們以為子彈會讓我們沉默，但是他們失敗了。之后數千個聲音就在這樣的沉默中爆發了。恐怖分子以為他們可以改變我的目標，阻止我的志向。但是在我的生活中，什么都沒有改變，除了這一點：軟弱、恐懼和絕望已經死去，力量、動力和勇氣已經誕生。我還是同一個馬拉拉，我的志向沒有改變，我的希望沒有改變，我的夢想也沒有改變。

親愛的兄弟姐妹們，我并未針對任何人。我來到這里發言也不是出于個人的復仇心而反對塔利班或其他任何恐怖組織。我來這里是為每一個兒童享有受教育的權利而發言。我希望塔利班以及其他所有恐怖分子和極端分子的兒女們都能接受教育。我甚至不憎恨槍擊我的塔利班成員。即使我手里有一把槍，而他就站在我面前，我也不會向他開槍。這種變通的遺產是我從馬丁·路德·金、納爾遜·曼德拉以及穆罕默德·阿里·真納那里繼承到的。這種寬恕是我從我父母那里學到的。這也是我的靈魂告訴我的：保持平和，博愛眾人。

親愛的兄弟姐妹們，在目睹黑暗時我們認識到光明的重要性，在被迫沉默時我們認識到發言權的重要性。同樣地，在巴基斯坦北部的斯瓦特，槍支讓我們認識到筆和書的重要性。智者曾說“筆桿的威力大于武力”，這話一點不錯。極端分子以前和現在一直都害怕書和筆。教育的力量令他們感到恐懼。我記得一位記者問我們學校的一個男孩：“為什么塔利班反對人們受教育呢？”那個男孩回答得很簡單，他只是用手指著自己的一本書，說：“塔利班不知道這書里寫了什么。”

巴基斯坦是個熱愛和平、崇尚民主的國家。普什圖人希望他們的兒女能接受教育。要實現這一點，和平是必要條件。在世界上的許多地方，特別是巴基斯坦和阿富汗，恐怖主義、戰爭和沖突使孩子們不能上學。我們真的很厭煩這些戰爭。世界上很多地方的婦女和兒童正遭受著各種各樣的苦難。在印度，無辜、貧窮的孩子們淪為了童工。在尼日利亞，許多學校遭到破壞。女童不得不成為家庭勞力，還要被迫早早嫁人。貧窮、無知、不公正、種族歧視以及基本權利被剝奪是我們（無論男女）面臨的主要問題。

親愛的朋友們，今天我關注女性權利和女童受教育權是因為她們所受的苦難最為深重。以前曾有女性社會活動家號召男性加入她們捍衛女性權利的隊伍中，但這次我們要靠自己去爭取。我并不是在告訴男性要停止為維護女性權利而奔走呼號，相反，我要強調的是，女性要獨立地為自己的權利做斗爭。

所以親愛的兄弟姐妹們，現在是時候讓世界聽聽我們的聲音了。所以今天，我們呼吁世界各國的領導人將戰略方針轉向維護和平和繁榮發展，呼吁他們達成的所有協議必須保護婦女和兒童的權利。任何違反女性權利的協議都是不能接受的。我們呼吁世界各國政府確保世界上的每個孩子都能接受免費的義務教育，呼吁他們與恐怖主義和暴力襲擊斗爭到底，保護孩子們免遭暴行和傷害。我們呼吁發達國家支持發展中國家增加女孩的受教育機會。我們呼吁所有社會崇尚寬容之風，拒絕因種姓、信條、宗派、膚色、宗教或是目標的不同而產生偏見，確保女性得到自由和平等的對待，讓她們能欣欣向榮地生活。而這些目標在我們中有一半人退縮的情況下是不可能達成的。因此，我們呼吁世界上所有的姐妹們勇敢起來，擁抱你們內心的力量，釋放你們所有的潛能。

親愛的兄弟姐妹們，為了每個兒童能有光明的未來，我們需要學校和教育。我們會向著和平和教育的目標繼續前行。沒有人能阻止我們。我們會為我們的權利奮起而呼，我們的聲音會帶來變革。我們相信我們話語的推動力和影響力，我們的話語能改變整個世界，因為我們為了教育事業而團結一致，眾志成城。如果我們想實現這一目標，就要拿起知識的武器，豎起團結一心的盾牌。

親愛的兄弟姐妹們，我們不能忘記有數百萬人正遭受貧窮、不公正和無知的痛苦。我們不能忘記有數百萬兒童沒有上學。我們不能忘記我們的兄弟姐妹們正在期待著一個和平、光明的未來。所以，讓我們向無知、貧窮和恐怖主義發起一場光榮的斗爭吧。讓我們拿起書和筆，它們是最強大的武器。一個孩子、一位老師、一本書、一支筆就可以改變世界。教育是唯一的出路。一切以教育為先。
