2013 China-ASEAN (Myanmar) Commodities Exhibition (CAEM) successfully ended on November 14th, 2013 at Tatmadaw Hall, Yangon, Myanmar. The exhibition was hosted by China Foreign Trade Centre (Group) and China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Shandong Sub-Council, and received extensive support from the Economic and Commercial Counsellor’s Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Department of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce Industry and in all areas of Myanmar.
2013 marked the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the strategic partnership between China and ASEAN. In accord with Myanmar’s market demands, CAEM 2013 focused on eight sectors, namely Agricultural Products, Food Beverages, Building Materials Chemical Products, Ceramics Gifts, Clothing, Accessories Textiles, Electronic Products, Household Goods, Machineries Vehicles and Stationeries Toys. The fair offered 145 standard booths, up 94% over 2012. The exhibitors came mainly from Shandong, Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangsu in China as well as from Korea and Malaysia, bringing their quality products to attend the exhibition.
The three-day Exhibition attracted a total of 6,300 professional buyers and ordinary viewers from Myanmar, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan and China mainland. Professional business chambers and associations organized their members to attend, such as the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce Industry, Myanmar Chinese Chamber of Commerce, etc. According to the on-site exhibitor questionnaire analysis, a site turnover of 800,000 US dollars and 1,200,000 US dollars turnover intention were achieved during the Exhibition. More than 58% of the exhibitors confirmed that they would join CAEM 2014.
China and Myanmar were going beyond a golden decade of cooperation. China has been one of Myanmar’s largest trade partners. The cooperation between the two countries has flourished in trade and investment. The annual CAEM provides Myanmar enterprises and people with more well-made products at competitive prices and enriches their material life. CAEM 2014 will be held from November 28-30 at Tatmadaw Hall in Yangon. The number of standard booths were expected to be 150. It is believed that CAEM will further develop and deepen the bilateral trade and friendly exchange between China and Myanmar and achieve common development, mutual benefit and win-win.
