咖喱與海鮮共舞
提到泰南,大家首先想到的必是普吉島,這里是度假的天堂,同時也是美食的天堂,所有的泰南美食都融匯于此。泰國南部是一個長形半島,新鮮的海鮮是這里的美食主角。大量的魚、龍蝦、螃蟹、烏賊、貝類、蛤蜊及貽貝等,廣泛地被料理成辣湯、咖喱、油炸食物等。
除了海鮮,泰國南部還有一種著名美食—馬沙文咖喱(Massaman),它在2011年曾榮獲CNN全球50種最美味的食物NO.1,甚至擊敗了北京烤鴨,可見它的美味程度。這種咖喱的口感跟其他幾種泰式咖喱的最大區別,就在于它的厚重與香濃,有一種被果仁包裹著的溫暖辣香,集麻辣、椰香和香甜于一身。而它的好味道源自于咖喱稠度與辣度的完美平衡,令人一吃難忘,可以說馬沙文咖喱是南部菜式的精華,
馬沙文咖喱常被稱作咖喱之王,甜中帶微辣,烹調方法跟其他咖喱大同小異,唯一不同的是除了有洋蔥、椰糖、魚露等材料,并不會加入常用的香茅及金不換,所以更易入口。它也是專供泰國皇室的重要咖喱品種,據說皇室們也都很滿意它的味道。
Curry Seafood
Speak of Southern Thailand, the first place come to our mind would be Phuket, a paradise for holiday goers and gourmets. You can find almost every variety of Southern Thai cuisine on this long peninsula. Fresh seafood, including fish, lobster, crab, cuttlefish, shell, oyster, and mussel, are a major part of everyday local diet, and are often cooked into spicy soup, boiled in curry, or simply deep-fried.
Southern Thailand is also known for another delicacy, Massaman Curry, the 2011 CNN most delicious food. The rich and aromatic massaman curry boasts of a mixed spicy and sweet flavor with coconut fragrance. Perfectly balancing curry and chill, massaman curry represents the essence of southern Thailand cuisine.
The Muslim influenced curry is cooked in similar ways as mainstream curries except it is not accompanied with lemon grass and basil. It is one of the curries that are supplied to the royal house and is said to be favored by the royal family.
fKan Eang: The favorite seafood restaurant for the locals is simply decorated and features coconut milk boiled seafood. Its signature dish is fried fish. Average Cost: 500 Baht
Lagoon Grill: Do not forget to ask for the meal of the day, which promises surprises. Average Cost: 400 Baht
Gung Fafe: Gung means rock lobster in local language, so make sure you order a lobster here. Gung is delicious but inexpensive—only 400 Baht per kilo compared to the 800 Baht per kilo Phuket lobster.
坎昂餐廳(Kan Eang):這是當地人最喜歡去的海鮮大排檔,裝修簡單,海鮮烹制時使用椰奶作為主要調味料。煎整魚是這里的特色菜。費用:每餐大約500泰銖。
珊瑚珍寶餐廳(Lagoon Grill):點菜時不要忘了問問主廚當日的特色菜,說不定會有意外驚喜。費用:每人消費大約400泰銖。
宮咖啡(Gung Café):Gung是土語巖石龍蝦的意思,所以到這里一定要點龍蝦餐。巖石龍蝦好吃不貴,只相當于每千克400泰銖,而普吉龍蝦則每千克800泰銖。
