廣州與巴黎一樣，游客多于五千萬，大部分都來自珠江三角洲地區。這個項目為每年到廣州旅游的大規模人群提供了建筑體驗。

廣州美術館是城市發展的一部分，位于總長12公里的廣州主軸線上，它屬于包括三個大型博物館和一個公園的競賽項目的一部分。博物館像巖石般矗立于景觀花園式的稻田里，它雕塑般的有機造型與公園周邊的高層建筑形成鮮明的對比。

藝術博物館是一個人與藝術親密接觸的地方。這個博物館更像是用于娛樂、休閑和教育的工人俱樂部。藝術博物館的主要空間是開放式的，貫穿其中的小樹林和一條小河成為一道風景線 。事實上，這幢建筑就像是一座倒置的房子，圓形屋頂下遮蓋著巨大的公共廣場，為人們提供了庇護。另外，對藝術不感興趣的人以及不進入博物館內部的人也可以觀賞建筑的外部空間，因為它是博物館的正中心。

展廳結構采用黑盒子的設計理念，遵循傳統的板柱結構，而外部則是自承式墻面結構，一部分懸掛在頂梁上。因此，整棟建筑是一系列分立的球體，只有從門廳才可觀看到完美的空中大廳與餐廳。

Guangzhou has as many tourists as Paris, 50 million people. Most of them are coming from the area of the Pearl River Delta. This project is offering an architectural experience to the enormous amount of tourists visiting each year Guangzhou.

The art museum in Guangzhou is part of an urban development based on Guangzhou main axis with a total length of 12 kilometers. It is a part of a competition brief which included three large scale museums and a park. The museums stand like rocks in the rice fields of a landscape garden. Their sculptural organic shape distinguishes them clearly from high-rise buildings surrounding this park.

An Art Museum is a place for the intimate encounter between an individual and a work of art. This museums relates much more to a workers club dedicated for the entertainment, leisure time and education of people. The main space of the art museum is an open space, a part of the landscape with a small forest and a river running through. In fact the building is like an inversion of a house as an object. It is the shelter, the dome covering a huge public square. Also people that are not interested in art, that do not enter this building could enjoy this space outside the building which is the very center of the museum.

The structure of the exhibition spaces, following the concept of a black box, is conventionally built with columns and slabs while the exterior is a self-supporting shell structure partly hanging on the roof beams. The form of the building is therefore built as series of fragmented spheres. Only the foyer reveals the perfect spheres of the sky lobby and the restaurant.
