Phildel，她的名字由中國裔父親Philip和愛爾蘭母親Della的名字組合而成。她的成長經歷聽起來頗有些灰姑娘式的傳奇色彩：8歲時父母離異，她跟著母親與繼父生活在一起。音樂和藝術在新家庭里沒有任何生存空間。繼父給她改了名字；扔掉了她收藏的唱片；待她如仆人；常把她關在房間里，讓她遠離母親；禁止她聯系生父；全家旅行卻把她一人留在家里……唯有學校是她的避難所，在那里她得以學習彈鋼琴和作曲。
