It’s scary graduating from college; it’s like, when you f nally feel like you ft in, and you’ve gotten the lay of the land, it’s (not so suddenly) time to ship off, as you’re thrust from the frying pan of learning into the f res of employment.

I was lucky enough to land an awesome job a few months before graduation.It wasn’t easy though.I had to go to this cattle-call audition at some random hotel, where I was surrounded by thousands of other would-be Broadway stars hoping to break into the business.But I beat ’em all out, and got a handful of job offers.That’s when I faced a tough decision.Do I sign a short-term contract to play a principal role for a regional theatre, or do I sign a longer, more lucrative deal touring the United States, performing as a giant dancing dragon in a children’s show.I took the latter, even though it was certainly the scarier choice.

In the f rst of this month’s post-grad themed features, How I Beat the Graduate Blues shows us that those post-grad feelings of loss and desperation are “normal—but not unmanageable.” In our second featured article, From Graduate Recruit Turned Recruiter, we see the dilemma from both sides of the recruiter’s desk.And in Yes, There Is Life after University, fresh grads are advised to keep their options open.

So as graduation nears, just try taking a deep breath and remembering that this is not the end, but rather, a whole new beginning.
