English is a living language and it is one of the most widely used languages in the world. Reading is divided into Intensive reading、Extensive reading、Read aloud、Read Silently etc. Reading can bring the students a lasting interest， it can consolidate and deepening the knowledge what we have learn， it can improve a student's wielding synthetically language ability and develop student's intelligence. Reading can help the students to broaden their horizons and face the world， not only in itself but also a lot of non-verbal language of knowledge； reading in many cases is the purpose of our study foreign languages. We cannot raise the reading ability of a foreign language， we cannot fully grasp the firm of a foreign language either and we can't achieve the purpose of learning a foreign language.So I would like to talk about how we improve the methods in English reading ability.

1.Take a correct attitude towards study learning and cultivate good reading habits.First， we must encourage inspire the students to take the initiative in reading. Enable the students to enjoy reading， like reading that is a prerequisite for improving reading ability. By introducing the students to read the interested articles and the simple reading materials， the teachers can cultivate and stimulate the students interest in reading.

Second， the students should develop good reading habits. Without a good reading habit， it is difficult to improve the reading abilities of the students. Good reading habits， including proper use of tools （dictionaries）， the habit of thinking of while reading and the habit whenever reading and so on. However， some students like to look up it in the process when they meet a new word of reading， resulting in the slow speed pace of reading， and the quality is not very high. Some students think only to look at the words in the reading， resulting in lack of understanding of materials， it will be impossible to do a good job title. When we are doing we must overcome these bad habits. In the same time， we should bring our attention into focus on the article and we have a sense of urgency， so that we can accelerate the reading speed. We can improve the reading speed and reading results.

2.Expand the knowledge and pay attention to the cultural differences.To improve reading ability， we must expand our knowledge. We know that reading the article involves a broad range of topics as varied widely， such as， the story， a fable， science fiction， biographies and so on. Therefore， we must understand more about the cultural background knowledge to expand their knowledge. We know that human civilization has its similarities， but also many differences. The cultural understanding with other countries culture is not acceptable. In Britain， when people meet each other regularly， they always talk about： the British weather. However people who live our country often say： “Have you eaten？” Many students do understand the topic when Western culture often overlooked because of the background and thinking mistaken understanding. Therefore， in the day-to-day contact and understanding of the English culture， it will help enhance our reading comprehension.

3.Attention to the reading speed training.Reading speed and the accuracy to understand are the two inseparable from the reading ability. Now the high school English curriculum for high school graduates reading speed for the past 60 words per minute. If students lack training in peacetime， reading slow， the rapid processing of information is poor. To improve the reading speed， in addition to a good reading habit， limited reading skills training and training is also very important to read the two areas. Therefore， we should improve all aspects of reading speed.

4.Strengthen reading training.In addition to the article on the book， the students should pay more attention to strengthening their reading training. To read， read the article thoroughly English， non-English-speaking countries not customs. All of them did not know the location could not know what foreign dignitaries from countries too. Therefore， teachers must expand their reading knowledge. Usually students are exposed to the subject article. Britain and the United States in particular， is the background knowledge to enable students to learn more about Britain and the United States customs. In addition， the media have given us a platform to understand foreign cultures. Again， we will begin to make good use of a high reading and supporting training materials. Student teachers should also often add to the types of articles to expand their scopes.
