On April 9th， the international crude oil price plummeted by 6.6% to $ 50.42 per barrel， which had been the biggest one-day drop since February 4th. However， the price of PX， which is related closely to crude oil rose by 1.83% instead of dropping.

“This unusual situation is related to the Zhangzhou explosion accident caused by oil leak in PX factory on April 6th，” said Mr. Li， an experienced businessman in Qianqing raw materials city. The PX （paraxylene） produced in Zhangzhou PX plant is an important raw material of polyester， which is used in production of dacron. The accident will have a great impact on related products and the downstream markets in the future. Since April 8th， PTA （purified terephthalic acid）， as the downstream product of PX， has raised its prices in Qianqing raw material city significantly， and on April 9th， the price rose to 4，750 yuan from 4，450 yuan per ton， growing by 6.7%.
