ISKO I-SKOOL Denim Award in China

Known from the article titled “China Denim Trend： To explore the denim world” in June issue of China Textile， the China Denim Trend co-organized by ISKO？ and China Textile Information Center was held in Beijing this June， bringing abundant information among the industry to the audience. In addition， another weight activity was the final contest of ISKO I-SKOOL Denim Design Award in China.

The Denim Design Award is dedicated to tomorrows designers-to-be. Students are asked to develop their denim creations following certain“mian moods”， identified by Creative Room？， ISKO？s style and design center as the most important for future trends.

Its much more than a simple competition： this is a year-long training program meant to motivate youth to learn everything they can about the art of denim and gain experience through a number of workshops and denim seminars that take place in the inspiring Creative Room？， in Italy.

The ISKO I-SKOOL？ Denim Design Award shares knowledge about production and industrialization of concepts， allowing talent and creativity to take shape in real garments.

The award ceremony will take place at the end of the 2015/2016 academic year. Finalists will be judged by an international jury composed of the partnering brands and of a senior editor of the magazine Vogue. Winners will win as prize an internship in ISKO or ISKO I-SKOOL partnering companies.

Moods

Over the years denim has become a must in everyones wardrobe， and it still continues to amaze us today with its outstanding versatility. Thats why ISKO I-SKOOL asks students to interpret denim in different moods， in order for them to learn how to enhance the value of fabrics according to the ultimate market trends.

■ Renovated denim icons

This mood is an especially difficult challenge for students. Starting from an in-depth study of the evolution of denim and a thorough analysis of indigo history， they will create their own denim icon. Its a way to rock classic jeans； the definitive， authentic icon that never goes out of style.

■ Athleisure

For the upcoming edition， ISKO I-SKOOL just had to sync up with the latest major trend by asking designers to create garments inspired by activewear using the most iconic， frontrunning ISKO fabrics： ISKO BLUEJYM， ISKO FUTURE FACE， JEGGINGS， ISKO XMENS， ISKO BLUESKIN.

■ Jool

In this mood， students will have the unique occasion to experiment the denim masters ultimate creation that has inspired an emerging trend in the market： ISKO JOOL， a newborn fabric that mixes denim and wool. Versatile and perfectly adaptable to haute couture， this fabric will be an exciting challenge for the future stars of fashion.

In the third edition， Avery Dennison RBIS will concentrate on branding and embellishment design as part of each mood. Students are tasked with designing the branding for designs using a selection of products that will be produced by Avery Dennison RBIS for the final showcase.

ISKO I-SKOOL announced the finalists from China

ISKO I-SKOOL Denim Award has revealed the shortlisted students from participating Chinese academies， who will take part in the finals in this July.

The two finalists come from two of the most prestigious design academies in China； the Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology （BIFT） and the Academy of Art & Design， Tsinghua University.

According to the contest rules they had to choose a specific “mood” for their projects， and one chose “Athleisure” while the other chose“Jool”.

With the selection of the Chinese students the project shortlist phase is officially concluded. Now all 20 candidates coming from the best fashion and design academies worldwide will finalize their projects that will be presented during the finals， to be held at Villa Corner della Regina， a stunning historical palace in Treviso （Italy）， on July 15th.
