Sky Hole & Geosuture in Fengjie World Cave Wonder

There is another peerless spectacle in Fengjie—the Sky hole& Geosuture, which is the d eepest karst funnel with the maximum volume, one of the world’s cave wonders.

The Sky hole& Geosuture resort is constituted by sky sinkhole, geosuture, Dragon Bridge River, maze River, Jiuban river, and the Maocaoba resort, each having their own characteristics; the Maocaoba resort is an alpine pasture, where the scenery is very beautiful. The Sky hole& Geosuture resort in Fengjie has three top wonders around the world: the longest geosuture, the largest sinkhole, the longest underground river system.

The mouth of t he Sky Hole is surrounded by magnificent cliffs chopped by axes. There are numerous deep and unpredictable pit caves and a surging underground river in the hole, which add mysterious color to i t. Explorers at h ome and abroad have launched many expeditions into the hole, finding evidence that the underground river flows through a t unnel to the maze river, from which comes the presumption that the underground river runs from the mystical geosuture.

The mysterious and unique geosuture is another wonder that captures the praise of scientists at home and abroad. Viewed from afar, it is like a huge gap cracked on earth, so that the audience are amazed and impressed, marveling at t he f ne craftsmanship of N ature. The geotuture consists of u pstream broad valley, midstream canyon, water-absorption tunnel and the geosuture, and underground river section downstream. It is V-shaped, opening to t he northeast. The turning corner is the entrance to the geosuture, where unique landscape and rare f ora and fauna coexist. What has been developed is about 5 km from the Tianjin Gorge Bridge to the Huitou stone, where a plank loop line has been formed from Luojiaping down to the ground. With between are attractions that scatter like stars. The multishaft cave is grotesque, haunted by numerous legends. A mix of geological features and monstrous caves make the entire scenic spot almost "full of holes." British and French explorers are full of praises, commenting that it is a "world f rst class magic cave".Stone forest, peaks, karst caves, swales, natural bridges, the water-splashing stream, blind valleys, funnels, silos ...... the kaleidoscope of the items constitute a colorful scroll.

The narrow lanes along the geosuture are bestrewn with rocks of a ll sorts of strange shapes; the jungle on the cliffs are blocking out the sun, closing the geosuture from the outside. A red gap is exposed between the two mountains. A straight narrow slit is rising like a sharp knife. In geographical term, the geosuture is called "dry valley" or "blind valley", for that there usually are funnel and sinkholes on the river bed if it is in the limestone area; river f ows will all be cut into the ground, thus forming a dry riverbed that is called "dry valley"; some rivers f ow into the cave, and become valleys with no exits, which are called the "blind valley." The upper section of the geosuture is 10-30 m wide, the bottom 1-30 m, while the maximum depth of the cliff could reach 300 meters, which form a spectacular view--"A Thread of Sky”. Meanwhile, among the mountains running clear trickling streams, with pastures and lush primeval forests, indeed another fairyland paradise.

Dragon Bridge Underground River is located southeast to the Sky hole& Geosuture resort, with a length of 5 0 km-- it is the longest underground river system in the world so far. An altitude of about 1500 m, a total length of 3 kilometers, it is originated in Longmenba. The river zigzags from the natural bridge east to the Longmen cave west. The natural Dragon Bridge is across the gorge with a w idth of 3 0 meters and height of over 30 meters, and a span of 10 meters. The Longmen Cave, where the river f ow disappears, is about 80 meters high. But where does the river flow when joining the Longmen Cave? Despite a s eries of explorations by French explorers, it remains a mystery. Dragon Bridge river resort is picturesque like a paradise on earth, and is also a a great place to escape the summer haze and return to nature.

With an elevation of 1000 m or more, it becomes the best place to avoid summer heat and watch the snow. And the mountain village style is more like a p oignant Tu minority Love Song, within which the unsophisticated folk customs are appealing to so many domestic and foreign visitors.

Xiaozhai Sky Hole

It is a large oval funnel pit with a diameter of 626 meters, a d epth of 6 62 meters, and a total volume of 119 million cubic meters, enough to hold the water in Dianchi Lake in Yunnan Province.
