海濱港口和海鷗的象征!

青島市位于中國東部海岸，是中國最重要的港口之一。1898年，她被滿清政府割讓給德國作為殖民地，為期99年。繼第一次世界大戰后，中國于1922年又正式收回青島。2008年，青島承辦了奧運會帆船賽事。

青島北站毗鄰黃海，靈感恰好來自于海濱港口和展翅飛翔的海鷗。正是這種動感形象的象征，使該方案在2007年12月的競標中，獲得評委一致好評。

如同中國大多數的鐵路客站一樣（即“上行下出”的乘車模式），到達和出發線路橫跨覆蓋了整個“出發大廳”,向外發散的橋梁結構建在軌道上方，乘客由這些高架橋下行到出發的站臺。

為了減輕大量密集的客流壓力，到達乘客需要下行一層，以便換乘地鐵、出租車和客車。此交通流線確保了出發乘客和到達乘客的分流，不相互混雜。

“出發大廳”的主要空間和形態看似復雜的屋頂，可以拆減成單一的結構模塊，以改變模塊的空間位置來實現不同形態。因此，鑒于此項目的規模，這個造型顯得復雜的工程，因為模塊化，從而使它更經濟并易于實現。

在后期的深化設計中，利用風洞實驗模擬了青島的氣候條件。希望在季風月，通過自然通風體系，給大廳創造大量自然風，從而使大廳空調的能源消耗每年減少30%。

Symbolism of ports and seafaring birds!

Located at the east coast of China, Qing Dao is one of China’s important ports. In the 19th century it was colonized by Germany and was officially ceded to it by the Manchu administration in 1898 for a period of 99 years, but was taken back by China in 1922 following the war with Japan. In 2008, Qing Dao hosted the Olympic sailing events.

Qingdao North Station, which faces Yellow Sea, almost self-evidently seeks its inspiration in the symbolism of ports and seagulls with large wingspans. It was this self-evident symbolism that was unanimously acclaimed by the competition judges in December 2007.

As most China stations with this boarding mode, the arrival and departure lines covered the whole "departures hall" – a full-blown bridging structure built over the tracks, from which passengers descend to their departure platforms.

In order to minimize the pressure of large numbers and dense flows of passengers, arrival passengers go down a floor to the metro, taxi rank and passenger car pick-up areas. It ensures that departing and arriving passengers never mingle.

The main area of the "Departures Hall" and the seemingly complex shape of the roof can be sectioned into single structural module, which only varies as a function of its spatial positioning. Therefore, the program is an apparently complex formal program in terms of its scale, but it is economical and easy to implementbecause its modularization.

Later detailed design studies of Qingdao’s climatic factors by wind tunnel simulation experiment in order to create a large-volume natural ventilation system for the hall in monsoon months, designed to cut the operator’s annual energy spending on climate control for the hall by 30%.
