Liu Yunshan, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, headed a CPC delegation for an official visit to Vietnam and Cambodia on Sept. 18-21.
In Vietnam, Liu met with the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.
Liu said that China and Vietnam are both socialist countries led by communist parties, and it is important to strengthen relations between the two parties and countries. He suggested the two neighbors properly manage and control their differences so as to create a favorable environment for cooperation.
Trong and Phuc expressed hope for more inter-party exchanges and cooperation. They agreed that the two countries should synergize development strategies, deepen cooperation in investment, trade and major projects, while properly dealing with differences, so as to bring more benefits to the people of both countries.
In Cambodia, Liu met with Cambodia’s acting head of state and Senate President Samdech Say Chhum, who is also vice president of the Cambodian People’s Party, and Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.
Liu said that China-Cambodia friendship has stood the test of the changing international landscape and shown great vitality, and bilateral relations are at an all-time high. China will work with Cambodia to deepen comprehensive strategic cooperation and realize common prosperity for the sake of the two peoples so as to foster a community of shared future.
On behalf of Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Say Chhum thanked Liu for leading the CPC delegation to visit Cambodia ahead of the 19th CPC National Congress, saying the tour showed China’s great attention to the development of Cambodia-China relations, and said he hopes China’s 19th CPC National Congress will be a success.
