W hen I was giving a lecture at a university,a student of mine told a story about her childhood.

“My parents got divorced when I was six. They thought I was too young to understand it. To keep the secret, they lived in the same house long after the divorce. They still loved me the same, but I knew they were no longer together.”

She told us both she and her mother loved eating meat, and her father liked vegetables. Her mother used to cook half the dishes with meat and half with vegetables. But one day, there was only meat.

As for her father, one piece of clear evidence was that he used to call her mother to open the door for him. One day, however, he began to use his own keys.

Most importantly, when the families went out together, the father and mother didn’t discuss the destinations as before. They both came to ask their daughter’s opinions, because they did not care about each other anymore.

She said, “It seems easy to keep a secret from a six-year-old. But they overlooked the most important fact. They forgot that I loved them.”?

在大學里做講座，一個學生談起兒時往事。

“那時我才六歲，父母離婚了。他們覺得我小，不懂事，所以辦完手續后很長一段時間還住在同一套房子里，依然對我很寵愛。但我就是清楚地知道，他們分開了。”

她說，她和母親都喜歡吃肉，父親喜歡吃素，母親以往做飯都會半葷半素，但是忽然有一天，母親只做肉菜了。

父親的表現在于以前回家就喊母親開門，可是不知從什么時候起，他腰帶上開始掛上鑰匙。

最重要的是，父母依然帶她出門游玩逛街，以前他們都會商定去哪里，但是后來，他們都來問她的意見：“囡囡，你想去哪里？”因為他們已經不再重視對方的意見。

她說：“你看，所有人都覺得對一個六歲的孩子隱瞞一件事是多么簡單，卻忽略了最重要的一點。他們忘了，我愛他們啊?！?
