In 2018, China ushered in the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up. In the past 40 years, China’s land, which carries out “the most courageous institutional experiments and development practices” in the world, has achieved remarkable achievements and has undergone earth-shaking changes. This series of achievements and changes are a majestic force that promotes the development and progress of Chinese society and reflects the great process of reform and opening up.

When the textile industry was established in New China, it established a pillar industry status. Since the reform and opening up, it has maintained a stable and healthy development. It has played a stabilizing role in large economic fluctuations, and its pillar industry status has not wavered. In the past 40 years of reform and opening up, China’s textile industry has established the most complete modern manufacturing system in the world. Multivariate capital has competed vigorously in the industry and its primary mission to meet consumer demand has made multi-dimensional and historic contributions.

The opportunities given by history have been grasped by us, and the tasks entrusted by the times we have yet to complete. The 19th National Party Congress opened a new era of China’s development, turning from high-speed growth to high-quality development is the basic feature of China’s economic development in the new era. China’s textile industry has also entered a new stage and new journey of high-quality development.“Technology, fashion, and green” are becoming new labels and new orientations for China’s textile industry.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the reform and opening up, “China Textile” has hereby launched “Changing · Rising · Promoting” — 40th Anniversary Report on China’s Textile and Apparel Reform and Opening Up, aiming to write brilliant historical achievements, singing the praises of innovative entrepreneurial characters, and taking stock of the development of the industry, and clarifying the direction of the future.

“Changing · Rising · Promoting” — 40th Anniversary Report on China’s Textile and Apparel Reform and Opening Up will be divided into several major parts. First, it will sort out and summarize major achievements and contributions of the textile industry,demonstrate the reform and opening-up ideology of China’s textile industry representatives, and strive to be completely depict the 40-year history of the reform and opening up of China’s textile industry; the second is the introduction of influential people interviews, with the theme “History should bear in mind them”, interviewing representatives who have made outstanding contributions to the Chinese textile industry during the 40 years of reform and opening up, trying to highlight the important contribution of the industry in reform and opening up through their stories; the third is “everyone talks” to allow people in the textile and apparel industry to talk about 40 years of thoughts and experiences; the fourth is to carry out collections about 40-year reform and opening up, including articles, video materials and personal stories, to show the development achievements and stories of China’s textile and garment industry in the past 40 years of reform and opening up; the fifth is to launch a 40-Year-Achievement Photo Exhibition of the Chinese textile industry with the theme of “Dream 40 Years”; the sixth is to produce a 40-year special edition of the reform and opening up of China’s textile and garment industry.

Over the past 40 years, the land of China that has been carrying out “the most courageous system experiment and development practice” all over the world has made remarkable achievements and experienced earth-shaking changes. This series of achievements and changes together are mighty forces, which promote the development and progress of Chinese society and reflect the great process of reform and opening up.In this issue, we specially invite the leaders of China’s textile industry to sum up the past, look into the future, continue to conduct reform, persist in opening up and explore the road of high-quality development.
