Application of 5Sin Marine Engine Management

Abstract:With the progress of the timesand the continuous development of science,ships are becoming more and more large-scale and high-end.Therefore,the requirements for marine engines are becoming higher and higher.With the gradual improvement and automation of marine engine hardware,more and more attention has been paid to marine engine management.At present,accidents caused by improper management of marine engines are still happening in our lives,so it is urgent to improve the efficiency and quality of marine engine management.In this paper,the author analyzes and studies the application of 5Sin marine engineeringmanagement,in order tohelp thefuturemarineengineeringmanagement.

Marine engineering management plays an important role in the development of marine industry.Proper management of marine engineering can not only effectively reduce the occurrence of risks and create a safe marine environment,but also enable the rapid development of marine industry.In today"s era,the importance of improving the quality and efficiency of marine engineering management is self-evident.5Smanagement plays a very important role in marine engineering management.How to organically combine 5S management and marine engineering management is the main problem we are facing at present.

I. Status of Marine Engineering Management

With the development of science and technology,the ship industry is also developing.As an important means of maritime transportation,the equipment of ships is gradually refined from simple to complex.The carrying space of ships gradually tends to be large from small to large.These changes in the ship not only increase the number of transport,but also greatly improve the speed of transport。However,it is undeniable that in the face of the new situation,the current marine engineering management also faces new requirements and challenges[1].For example,the inspection work in the management is not in place,resulting in the existence of some safety risks.Therefore,there are still many problems and deficiencies in the marine engineering management work,which need to be solved by people.

II.Meaning of 5SManagement

5S management is the management that includes the five projects of Seiri,Seiton,Seiso,Seiketsu and Shitsuke as a whole.Because the initial letter of the five projects is S,the management of the five projects is called 5S management.The primary task of this management is Seiri,that is,to ensure the order and cleanliness of all articles and equipment in the normal work of the engine,and to pay attention to the necessary marks of these things,so as to prevent the occurrence of disorder and disorder[2].The second point of 5S management is Seiton,which requires reasonable arrangement of articles,division of areas and clear delineation of areas,as well as corresponding record sheets,so that all work can be carried out in an orderly manner.The third point of 5Smanagement is Seiso,that is,to keep the turbine running equipment clean and unimpeded,and prevent excessive accumulation of dust,dirt,pollution and other factors,which aggravates the burden of each equipment in operation and causes long-termoverload of all kinds of equipment,and finally leads to the occurrence of accidents.The fourth point of 5S management is Seiketsu, that is, the working environment,equipment,tools and parts should be kept clean and tidy all the time,and regular inspection and arrangement should be carried out to ensure the safety of these devices and instruments.The staff concerned should also be neat in appearance and spirit.The last element of this management is Shitsuke,which requires relevant staff to treat their own work with a conscientious and positive attitude.Understand the essence of 5S management,do a good job in 5S management,can make the engineering management work efficiently and orderly.

III.Application of 5S Management in Marine Engineering Management

By understanding the meaning of 5S management and understanding its essence,5S management can be more effectively applied in future work.Based on this,the author briefly analyzes the application of 5S management in marine engineeringmanagement.

(i)Seiri Seiri

As the first step of 5S management,the importance of collation is self-evident.At the present stage,the degree of refinement of ships has been greatly improved,and the degree of refinement of various equipment of the turbine has also been gradually strengthened.Any equipment in a certain period of time after the operation will have a certain degree of consumption and damage,so the need to store the corresponding spare parts,in order to meet unexpected needs.This makes it much more difficult to maintain the organization and neatness of the Marine machinery.In particular,some items may be relatively similar.If not well organized,such items may not be replenished on time and on demand,so that such items may not be supplied in time when there is a real need[3].In addition,after the replacement of these items,the replaced items also need to be reasonably sorted out.Some equipment and instruments may be completely beyond repair and cannot be reused.Some instruments can be repaired and reused,so the replacement of these items also need to be arranged.The orderly arrangement can not only assist the whole process of the work to be carried out in an orderly manner,but also the whole space of the ship can be reasonably used,or even reduce the space needed for storing objects,so as to transport more goods.

(ii)Seiton eiton

Seiton is an indispensable link,which is the key to the whole process of 5S management.Sometimes there are some problems in the management of marine engineering,which are more or less related to the failure of rectification steps.Therefore, strengthening the management of rectification links plays a very important role in improving the overall work of marine engineering management[4].In order to do a good job in the rectification work,the related staff first need to divide the objects of each instrument,equipment and so on into relevant areas,so that each object can have a fixed storage location in order to find,and then save the time waste caused by not finding things.The division of the area includes the storage area of useful spare parts,the storage area of useless objects and the subdivision area of useful objects.The establishment of records is also an important link in the orderly process of sorting work,such as the establishment of the work records of the relevant staff.The establishment of the record table,so that the work distribution of staff can be fair and orderly,they can perform their duties,to prevent the occurrence of responsibility shift.Staff also need to record every work completed,so that problems can be timely implemented to the specific staff,which ensures efficient and orderly work.In addition,the rectification work also needs to carry out regular inspection,in order to ensure that items,materials sufficient conditions,useless items can be removed in atimely manner.

(iii)Seiso Seiso

Timely sweeping is an important part of ensuring the safety of the turbine.The lack of thoroughly sweeping would most likely lead to occurrence of accidents.Above all should undertake rubbish sweep in time,this can not only maintain a neat and orderly working environment,but also build a better working environment.At the same time,this clean environment should also be kept long.Second,make sure that the dust and dirt in each cabin and equipment should be swept.No matter what instrument,equipment,need to carry out regular care and cleaning,otherwise dust,dirt will hinder the normal operation of machinery,equipment,etc..The occurrence of many accidents,to some extent,is due to the failure of sweeping work,which makes some equipment in an overload state during operation,or because dirt,dust and other important parts of the equipment block,leading to the occurrence of accidents[5].Therefore,sweeping work is an indispensable part of the whole work,and asafety guaranteein ship operation.

(iv)Seiketsu ketsu

Cleaning work is the front finishing,rectification,cleaning work to maintain an important guarantee.There are two basic points to do a good job of cleaning,the first basic point is to make the early work can continue to implement.The second is to take the concept of cleanliness and make it a norm.For example,the uniform of staff dress,this also is a kind of cleanness.The uniform of the staff not only saves the time for the staff to match the clothes themselves,but also enables the staff to put more energy into the work,and makes the whole working environment coordinated and unified,creating a clean and tidy working environment.Therefore,it is very important to require working personnel to be in the workplace must wear work clothes,ensure the cleanliness of work clothes.The third point is to get the idea of cleanliness into people"s minds.In this way,staff can consciously keep their surroundings clean and tidy in their daily work and life,so that facing the act that destroys neat working environment to also can undertake stopping in time.The clean working environment can also help this concept to be deeply rooted in people"s mind.Over time,the overall mental outlook of the staff will also change,which is conducive to the play of the overall strength of the staff,so that the marine engineering management can be carried out safely and orderly.

(v)Shitsuke tsuke

The quality of marine engineering management staff plays a very important role in improving the marine engineering management and ensuring the work quality.To strengthen the training of the comprehensive quality of the staff,including both the technical and ability quality of the staff,and the spiritual quality of their training.This requires relevant leaders to attach great importance to the cultivation of the quality of Marine engineering staff and conduct regular training for them,so as to enable the staff to master basic knowledge skillfully and eliminate knowledge and technical errors in work[6].Staff members should also strive to improve their own spiritual quality,enhance the sense of responsibility,treat their own work cautiously and conscientiously,put an end to the occurrence of dereliction of duty.The improvement of the comprehensive quality of the staff will help them give play to the spirit of dedication,and pass this spirit on to others,thus affecting more people,and finally make everyone think and work together,so as to ensure the work efficiency and make the ship havebetter safety.

IV.Conclusion

To sum up,5S management can ensure the efficient and quality management of marine.Especially in the rapid development of today,combined with advanced management mode,to make the work to achieve better results.In this paper,the author briefly describes the meaning of 5S,and starts from the meaning to grasp the core meaning of 5S,analyzes the practical application of 5Smanagement in marine engineering management,in the hope that in the future marine engineering management can be more safe and orderly,reduce the frequency of risk occurrence,and promote the continuous progress and development of marine industry.
