My Monitor

Zhang Xin is our monitor. She is tall， healthy and lively. She does well in all subjects. She is fond of sports and is good at singing and dancing. Zhang Xin works hard at English. When she came to the school， she had quite a lot of difficulties with the language. But she was not afraid of them and always tried her best to overcome them. She was active in class and did a lot of practice after class. No pains， no gains. With great efforts she made much progress in English study. Zhang Xin is modest and always ready to help others. She is very strict with herself in her work and daily life. She sets us all a fine example.

A Good Teacher in My Eye

There are many standards to judge whether a teacher is good or not， such as popularity among students， the scores of students or his or her title. I am lucky to have met many good teachers who have their own characteristics. In my mind， a good teacher first should be rich in knowledge， especially in his or her own subject， which is the basic requirement to a good teacher. Secondly， a good teacher should be patient. As we all know that not all students can do well in study， so that it requires teachers to be patient enough to help the poor students. Finally， a good teacher should be creative and able to keep pace with the times. It means that our teachers should continually get new information and knowledge to enrich themselves.

The Benefits of Keeping Diaries

Keeping a diary in English does a great deal of good to my English study. Keeping a diary can help you review all the English knowledge you have learned. For example， you must know the correct spelling of each word needed in the diary;you must use the phrases correctly and choose the suitable sentence patterns， meanwhile， it is also necessary to use you knowledge of grammar in a correct way.

Keeping a diary can help you not only to console your knowledge of English， but to form the habit of thinking in English. Practice makes perfect. By and by， your English writing will be greatly improved.

Reading Is Valuable

People often say that gold and silver are the most valuable things in the world. But I dont think so.

In my opinion， to read books is more valuable than anything else. The old saying “To open a book is always helpful” clearly tells us how good it is to read a book. Books are our friends. They introduce us different kinds of knowledge. They lead us down the road to success. Books are our teachers. They teach us troth， science， literature， and philosophy of life. Besides， they increase our knowledge， enlarge our experience， strengthen our character and do many other things which we can not do without them. Books tell us what is good and what is evil. And only books can tell the good from the bad. Therefore， to read more books is the best policy for our young students.

My View on Failure

Everyone knows that failure always accompanies us in our life. No matter what we do， none of us can say we will surely succeed， because there is no such thing as plain sailing.

About failure， different people have different opinions. Generally speaking， on one hand， people think “failure is the mother of success”. They think we wont understand the profound meaning of success until we go through failure. On the other hand， for some people， failure is frustration. They think if a person goes through too much failure， he will collapse and lose confidence in his life.

In my opinion， failure is the footstone and catalyst of the edifice of success. “You dont know what you have until its gone.” If you have never lost it， and always get it easily， you will not cherish what you get and own.

My View on Making Friends Online

Should students make friends online？ Some people say yes. Internet helps people make many friends. Chatting on line， students can express their feelings and opinions more freely， and even get help for their foreign language studies.

Others， however， think students should not. They say making friends online is a waste of time， which should be spent more meaningfully on study. Besides， some students get cheated online.

It is my opinion that students should place their study， health and safety before other things. As for friendship， we can readily find it in our classmates and other people around us.

March 8th—international womens day

Today is march 8th—international womens day. Father wanted to please mother and let her have a good rest. He said he would cook the meals today. In fact， he is always busy with his work and knows nothing about housework. He seldom cooks. If no one cooks for him， he will eat nothing.

So mother and I were very surprised to hear what he said. But father was serious， and he said he was going to do some shopping first. He didnt know what to buy. So mother wrote all the things on a piece of paper.

Then father went out. Half an hour later he came back， with a smile on his face. He brought out all the things： one cake， two eggs， three tomatoes， four fish， five bottles of milk， six bags of salt and seven fat chickens！

Mother was greatly surprised. She couldnt say a word.

Mary was so disgusted at her husbands cigarette smoking that she complained to him one day.

“I hope that all the cigarette factories will catch fire.”“Dont worry， dear. All the cigarettes will be on fire sooner or later.” He said with a smile.

瑪麗非常討厭丈夫吸煙，一天對他抱怨說：“我希望有一天所有卷煙廠都失火。”

“不用擔(dān)心，親愛的，所有的煙卷遲早都會點(diǎn)著的。”他笑著說。
