1. The 50th anniversary of the restoration of China’s legitimate seat in the United Nations 中國恢復(fù)聯(lián)合國席位50 周年

On October 25th, 1971, the 26th session of the United Nations General Assembly adopted the resolution—to restore all the lawful rights of the People's Republic of China in the United Nations, which is a historic moment. Nowadays, the representatives of China can be seen in almost every United Nations agency, playing an important role as one of the permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.

1971年10月25日，第26屆聯(lián)合國大會(huì)通過決議，恢復(fù)中華人民共和國在聯(lián)合國的一切合法權(quán)利，這是一個(gè)具有歷史意義的時(shí)刻。今天，在聯(lián)合國的幾乎所有機(jī)構(gòu)里都可以看到中國代表的身影，并發(fā)揮著中國作為聯(lián)合國安全理事會(huì)常任理事國之一的作用。

2. The 20th anniversary of China’s accession to the WTO (World Trade Organization) 中國加入世界貿(mào)易組織20周年

On December 11th, China joined WTO officially. It not only marked that China's socialist market economy had been gradually established and improved, but also a true reflection of China's integration into economic globalization.

2001年12月11日,中國正式“入世”。它不僅記錄了中國社會(huì)主義市場經(jīng)濟(jì)體制逐步建立和完善的過程，也是中國融入經(jīng)濟(jì)全球化的真實(shí)寫照。

3. The 20th anniversary of the establishement of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization 上海合作組織成立20周年

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization, short for SCO, is a permanent Intergovernmental International Organization announced on June 15th, 2001 in Shanghai by the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, and Republic of Uzbekistan.

上海合作組織，簡稱上合組織(SCO)，成立于2001年6月15日，是中華人民共和國、哈薩克斯坦共和國、吉爾吉斯斯坦、俄羅斯聯(lián)邦、塔吉克斯坦共和國、烏茲別克斯坦共和國在中國上海宣布成立的永久性政府間國際組織。

2. congratulate [k?n?ɡr?t?ule?t]：If you congratulate someone, you say something to show you are pleased that something nice has happened to them 祝賀

①congratulate sb. 向某人表示祝賀

我向你表示衷心的祝賀。

He never even stopped to congratulate me.

他甚至沒有過來向我祝賀。

②congratulate sb. on/upon sth.因?yàn)槟呈孪蚰橙吮硎咀ＹR

其中congratulate的賓語必須是“受到祝賀的人”，不能是“所祝賀的事”，表示原因的介詞on/upon后可跟名詞、代詞、動(dòng)名詞或從句。

例句：Let me congratulate you on the birth of your daughter.

祝賀你生了個(gè)女兒

The authors are to be congratulated on producing such a clear and authoritative work.

向創(chuàng)作出這樣一部具有權(quán)威性又清晰易懂的作品的作者們祝賀。

③ congratulate oneself on 慶幸，感到幸運(yùn)

congratulate的名詞形式為congratulations。

祝賀你！感覺怎么樣？

提示：celebrate, congratulate這兩個(gè)動(dòng)詞均有“慶祝，祝賀”之意。

celebrate：通常指舉行盛大隆重的儀式慶?；蚣o(jì)念有意義的日子或某件事情，多暗示節(jié)日般的歡樂場面。

congratulate：指對他人祝賀為目的，希望他人幸?；蜃哌\(yùn)。

3. commemorate [k??mem?re?t]：To commemorate an important event or person means to remember them by means of a special action, ceremony, or specially created object紀(jì)念；慶祝

例句：The 200th anniversary of Mozart's death is being commemorated around the world with concerts featuring his work.

世界各地將舉辦以莫扎特的作品為主題的音樂會(huì)，以紀(jì)念他逝世200周年。

A special issue of the magazine was brought out to commemorate the occasion.

They commemorate the founding of our nation with a public holiday.

4. observe [?b?z??v]：celebrate, as of holidays or rites 慶祝

例句：We are going to hold a party for Grandpa this weekend to observe his 70 birthday.

It is a tradition for the people here to observe Spring Festival.

慶祝春節(jié)是這兒的傳統(tǒng)。
