During the Yuan Dynasty,the rule and governance over the north and south of Tianshan Mountains was an indispensable chapter of the history of exploring how to manage and govern the Western Regions.Genghis Khan’sunification and governance of the region wasmore innovative and significant,to which more attention should be paid.Few achievements,however,were seen in this field in the past.Based on the historical documents and the research of the predecessors in the academic circle,this paper systematically combs and discusses the Genghis Khan’s unification history and management policies of the north and south of Tianshan Mountainsafter his ascension,with a keen wish inviting scholars to join and instruct.

The Sino-Mongolian inscription of 1348 carved in Yingli Department(zhou)of Ningxia Route(lu)is restudied based on arubbing of Qing period.Different with the studiesof Francis W.Cleavesand other scholars,two words in the 2nd line of Mongolian inscription are read as“uran”and“asaγulu”,instead of old readings“ün”and“ayaγ”,thus the literal meaning and writing order of the whole Mongolian text are re-interpreted.

The royal family of the Yuan Dynasty has a unique burial custom-single wooden coffin burial.Single wooden coffins have been found in the dressing building cemetery in Guyuan,Hebei,Hurah No.1 cemetery in Mongolia,Qindante No.1 cemetery on the left bank of Onon River in Russia,etc.The single wooden coffin in the Mongol Yuan Dynasty inherited from the Dalasun Culture in southern Siberia.With the migration of Shiwei to the west,this burial custom also appeared on the Mongolian Plateau.In the Mongol and Yuan Dynasties,it wascustomary to use metal hoops outside the single wooden coffin.The material of the metal hoops was related to the identity level of the tomb owner.The spread of the single wooden coffin confirms the documented origin of Mongols in today’s Hulunbuir Erguna River.The burial custom of the Mongols not only inherits the tradition of single wooden coffin,but also is influenced by the burial custom of burying without gravein Tuoba Xianbeiin Hulunbuir region.

In the eighth year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty(1410),Jin Youziand others saw“Mount Saihan”at a distance during their journey.Based on historical records and field works,the author confirmed that what he was referring to by“Mount Saihan”is the present-day Boγda-aγula in Abaga Banner,also called“Obug”.Through Mongolian restoration and analysis,it can be determined that“Obug”is an earlier Chinese translation of the word“Obuγa”.Obuγa originally referred to a tall and holy mountain,and the worship for Obuγa originally referred to the worship for the holy mountain.The Obuγa revered today is a ritual carrier formed by the fusion of various ritual cultures of northern ethnic groups in history.

As a social culture,Wet Nurse culture had a profound cultural background among the civilian society in Yuan Dynasty.In addition,the custom of wet nurse had a considerable development in Yuan Court and finally formed as a set of institution,which is called Wet Nurse System in Yuan Dynasty.When we investigate the historical records concerning wet nurse during the Great Mongol Empire and Yuan Dynasty,although related records are rarely seen during the Great Mongol Empire,we can see the preliminary development of wet nurse institution in royal court.Wet nurse institution achieved a further development in Yuan Dynasty and finally formed as Court Wet Nurse System.

Altai Uriankhai is one of the three parts of Uriankhais in the Qing Dynasty.It is located in the Altay region of Xinjiang and Bayan Olgii Provincein western Mongolia.Its related historical research occupiesan important position in the historical field of our country’s border areas.Since the 1980s,domestic scholars have made significant progress in the study of the history of Altai Uriankhai.This article is based on the analysis of the historical archives included in the“Altai Tuvan Historical Archives Collection”jointly published by Mongolia and the Tuva Republic of the Russian Federation in 2015,the“The General Book of Kovdo Administration”,“Modern Xinjiang Mongolian Historical Archives”and the annals of counties and cities in Altay,etc.And it brings some new conclusions and thoughts were put forward on the textual research on the lineage of the left wing ukerida of the Altai Uriankhaiand thenamesof the banners.

The Research of historical place names of Xinjiang in Qing dynasty sources has the vital significance to demonstrate the formation of the Chinese Diverse Integral Structure.The essay mainly deals with the etymology,origin and meaning of the place names in Xinjiang.From linguistic and etymological point of view,it is a known fact that many place names in Xinjiang are originated from different languages like Chinese,Uyghur,Tocharian,Sakan,Mongolian,Sanskrit,Kazakh,Kirghiz,Persian and Arabic which are the result of longterm cultural communication,association and ethnical blending.At present,there have been some discussions on the relationship between place names and the history of the Western Regionsin the academic circle,but there are few special discussions from the perspective of special place names.Given this,this paper analyzes and studies one aspect of multi-ethnic communication and integration reflected by Xinjiang place names,with the help of field research,literature research and other ways.We think that the mosaic being of the Xinjiang place names becomes a prime source for the study of the historical background of the Chinese Diverse Integral Structureand providesan insight into Chinese cultural symbolsfromtimeand space.

In thispaper,takingthe image of Lady JIA asexample,we studies thehumanistic social conceptsof Hasbuu and Wang Xilian——both were Redologists in the Qing Dynasty,by comparison.Hasbuu and Wangxilian are characters of the same historical stage.Both of them are intellectuals in feudal society and bored with the collapsing social system,but the two of them view the image of Lady JIA in starkly difference.By contrasting the different points of view of Lady JIA,we demonstrated that Hasbuu was a Redologists not only with advanced ideas,but had played a role that cannot be ignored to the development of Redology.He got along with Wangxilian,who was one of the the three Commentators of The Dream of Red Mansions at that time.We also summarized Hasbuu's social thought and artistic achievement.As for the image of Lady JIA,the views of the two who lived in the same historical period were quite different.Thisarticle aims to start with the evaluation of Hasbuu and Wang Xilian,through the text perusal,compares their different views on the image of Lady JIA,and try to analyze the humanistic social thoughtsof the two commentators

The production time and place is still the focus of debate and unanswered question in the field of research of heroic epic Jangar.This paper uses the catalog of articles in Jangar Studies from 1954 to 2018,the Index of Mongolian Literature in Mongolian Studies from 1911 to 2012,the Mongolian Periodical Index of the Mongolian Digital Library,and the CNKISearch System,to find and retrieve the articles dedicated to the study of Jangar.The 33 papers on the time and place of the production of Jangar were divided into two periods to analyze the methods and approaches of the scholars who wrote the papers.Based on the above analysis,we pointed out the importance of the textual approach to the study of heroic epics,especially to the study of the issue of the place and time of origin of epics.
