Paris will host the 2024 Olympic Games and its mayor （市長） Anne Hidalgo wants to host the swimming events in the Seine River. But to do so， she’ll have to clear the river of the waste （垃圾）—about 360 tons of waste is found in the Seine River every year.

Lucky for Hidalgo， 11-year-old Raphael is on the case. For more than two years， the boy has spent nearly every weekend with his dad fishing waste out of the river. He has already fished out 7 tons of waste， including bikes， cameras and mobile phones.

It all started around Christmas in 2019 when Raphael saw an online video showing people how to fish waste out of water. So Raphael asked his parents for several meters of rope， a hook （鉤子） and a powerful magnet that could attract metal （金屬） objects.
