Yuan Jiajun and Hu Henghua Meeting with the Delegation Led by Wendell P. Weeks， Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Corning

On August 28， Yuan Jiajun， Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee， and Hu Henghua， Deputy Secretary of CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Mayor of Chongqing Municipal Government， met with the delegation led by Wendell P. Weeks， Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Corning， who visited Chongqing to advance cooperation.

The attendees included John Zhang， Senior Vice President of Corning， Luo Lin， Chen Xinwu， and Jiang Duntao， leaders from Chongqing.

Yuan Jiajun and Hu Henghua， on behalf of the CPC Chongqing Committee and the Chongqing Municipal Government， extended a warm welcome to Wendell P. Weeks and the delegation， and great appreciation to Corning for its contribution to Chongqing’s development. Yuan Jiajun stated that Chongqing is the only centrally-administered municipality in Central and Western China， and also one of the cities with the greatest growth potential. It has immense development space and is full of vitality. Currently， Chongqing is fully implementing the strategic plans of the 20th CPC National Congress. Chongqing endeavors to push forward Chinese modernization in all its work， steadily promote high-quality development， and build a modern new Chongqing. With the focus on the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin-Hub Mega-Region， it has strengthened coordination and cooperation with Sichuan in innovation， industry， and supply chains. Efforts have been made to accelerate the construction of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor to facilitate corridors， hubs， ports， logistics， and platforms. It places a higher priority on promoting the development of manufacturing and is fostering a “33618” System for Modern Manufacturing Clusters. It strives to build a Digital Chongqing and improve its capability of urban development， services， and governance on all fronts. To build a Beautiful Chongqing， it has moved faster to build major ecological shields on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River. Corning aligns perfectly with the strategic needs of Chongqing. Chongqing hopes to achieve win-win cooperation with Corning and encourages it to boost confidence in its development in the city and explore new avenues for cooperation in the R&D of enterprises， platforms， and the integration of industrial chains. Chongqing will remain steadfast in deepening reform and opening-up， and increase government support to create a favorable business environment for foreign enterprises in Chongqing.

Wendell P. Weeks expressed appreciation to Chongqing for its support to Corning’s development. He noted that Chongqing is a city full of charm and vitality and boasts a sound industrial ecosystem. Chongqing’s development philosophy is in line with that of Corning. Corning attaches great importance to its development in Chongqing and regards Chongqing as its long-term partner. It will continue to invest in Chongqing and work to put ongoing projects into full operation. In the future， Corning will further deepen strategic synergy with Chongqing， integrate itself into Chongqing’s industrial chains， explore new cooperation projects， and contribute to the high-quality development of Chongqing.
