Can knots be a kind of art? Of course, at least in China.
A Chinese knot is a knot made of a rope, taking on different shapes. Each shape has its own meaning, and nowadays you can find them as decorations and gifts for special days.
Early people may have made them to record information and send messages before they were able to write. Tools that are one hundred thousand years old and were probably used to make knots have been found. Moreover, knots are also found in some ancient texts. But it isn't known when they started to be used as decorations or gifts.

It is known that they were used for decoration and to express thoughts and feelings in the Tang Dynasty. The Tang Empire, which covered an extensive area, preserved and carried on the traditional art form as part of Chinese culture.
Even today, Chinese knots are rich in meanings, and they are given as gifts or passed down through families.
For example,in ancient times and even now, lovers may present a true lover's knot as a symbol of their love. The “true lover's knot\" and the “double happiness knot\" are used at weddings to express love to each other and the wish to grow old together.
