要進一步爭取各方面的支持。要充分認識《文化交流》在促進文化事業發展中的作用,緊緊抓住難得的發展機遇,加大宣傳力度,加強與各方面的聯系,積極爭取省委、省政府領導和省有關部門以及各地區的支持,爭取國內外熱心朋友的支持,努力為雜志的進一步發展創造良好的環境;

要進一步提高雜志質量。雜志要生存發展,質量是關鍵,是根本,我們一定要高質量辦好它。要樹立質量意識、精品意識,把主要精力放在努力提高辦刊的質量上,從約稿、采編到審稿、校稿,從內容到形式,從文字到照片,從印刷到發行,各個環節都要力求精益求精,爭取最好。要精心設置雜志欄目,將它辦得具有權威性、知識性、實用性、可讀性,使其別具風采,以滿足不同層次、不同群體讀者的多樣性需要,使它成為浙江文化期刊中的一張“金名片”,在推進浙江文化交流中發揮積極作用;

Care and Expectation

Cultural Dialogue held a meeting in celebration of the 20th anniversary of its founding in last November. Many provincial VIPs were present. Speaking at the meeting were Liu Feng, former president of Zhejiang CPPCC, Shen Zulun, former provincial governor, Wang Jiayang, former president of Zhejiang CPPCC, Zhang Junsheng, former party secretary of Zhejiang University, Li Dexin, former chief of CPC Hangzhou committee, Zhai Xiwu, former deputy provincial governor, Tong Shaosu, executive deputy chief of the publicity department of the CPC Zhejiang committee, Jiang Ping, former editor-in-chief of Zhejiang Daily. The Past and Status Quo

Since its inception in Hangzhou in 1985, Cultural Dialogue has experienced the eventful and fruitful 20 years.
Cultural Dialogue was initiated by the International Cultural Exchange Center in 1985 under the leadership of Liu Dan. It stopped publication after only four issues. Wang Fang, chief of CPC provincial committee, asked Wang Jiayang to take it over. The magazine acquired a new publication serial number from authorities. It was first printed in Hong Kong, later in Shenzhen, and later in Shanghai, now in Hangzhou. After Wang Jiayang, Wu Yaomin, Jin Yukun, Li Shijun, Shi Zai worked at the magazine. Zhejiang Daily maintains a special relation with Cultural Dialogue, as some of its senior editors have worked for the periodical. The magazine, a quarterly first, now is a bimonthly with more pages.
Under the guidance of the publicity department of the CPC provincial committee, the bilingual magazine with its vivid stories and pictures has now gone international and is distributed to 125 countries and regions across the world.

Cultural Dialogue is one of the only two publications in Zhejiang that have been singled out for praise by the leaders of the State Press and Publications Administration. It was chosen to represent Zhejiang at the International Magazines Show in UK in 2004.
Wishes for the Future
Liu Feng: the magazine needs more support from the provincial government and regional governments across the province as well as support from friends at home and abroad. Quality is the lifeline of the magazine. Strive perfection in the work. Improve the readability for different kinds of readers. Turn the magazine into a gold name card and play an active role in promoting the cultural exchanges between Zhejiang and the rest of the world.
Shen Zulun: The magazine should uphold its guidelines and continue to build on its past achievements and make new breakthroughs. Spice up the magazine with more good things and good wisdom. Keep improving and spread its influence.

Wang Jiayang: The bimonthly is becoming better and better. The magazine under the leadership of the publicity department of the CPC provincial committee should receive more support from all departments concerned. Continue the good work and make it even better.
Zhang Junsheng: Exchanges with Chinese embassies in foreign countries and the libraries at principal universities should be strengthened. Increase cooperation and share cultural resources.
Li Dexin: The government should continue to bankroll the magazine.
Zhai Xiwu: Such a good periodical is worth the continuous financial support from the government.
Tong Shaosu: The magazine needs to improve and spread from overseas Chinese readers to more foreign readers. Efforts should be made to strengthen ties with cultural publications abroad. Strive to attract young readers. Keep pace with the times and there is a large space for the magazine to become bigger and better.
Jiang Ping: Cultural Dialogue can learn how various media generate new ideas and thus further improve the bimonthly.
