寓言 Philosophers three

A bear，a fox，and an opossum were attacked by an inundation.

“Death loves a coward，”said the bear，and went forward to fight theflood.

“What a fool!”said the fox. “I know a trick worth two of that.”And he slipped into a hollow stump.

“There are malevolent forces，”said the opossum，“Which the wisewill neither confront nor avoid. The thing is to know the nature of yourantagonist.”

So saying the opossum lay and pretended to be dead.

熊、狐貍和負(fù)鼠一起遇到了洪水的襲擊。

“死神偏愛膽小鬼。”熊說完就挺身上前，跟洪水斗爭(zhēng)。

“真傻!”狐貍說，“我有個(gè)妙計(jì)，比這強(qiáng)一倍。”他溜進(jìn)了一個(gè)有空洞的樹樁里。

負(fù)鼠說：“面對(duì)一些邪惡勢(shì)力，智者既不抗擊，也不回避。關(guān)鍵是要了解對(duì)手的特征。”

說完，負(fù)鼠便躺下裝死。

單詞陷阱

剛開始學(xué)英語(yǔ)，恐怕很多同學(xué)都會(huì)犯同一個(gè)錯(cuò)誤——不少單詞似是而非，于是就望文生義。不過，你可得小心這其中的陷阱哦。

one-two是“拳擊中連擊兩次”，而不是“一二”。

Two-time是“對(duì)人不忠”，而不是“兩次”。

In two twos是“立刻”，而不是“兩兩之間”。

Three-score是“六十”，而不是“三分”。

Four Hundred是“名流、上層”，而不是“四百”。

Five-finger是“賊”，類似漢語(yǔ)的“三只手”，而不是“五指”。

At sixes and sevens是“亂七八糟”，而和“六”無(wú)關(guān)。

a white day是“良辰吉日”，而不是“大白天”。

Green-eyed是“紅眼病”，而不是“綠眼病”。

Green hand是“生手”，而不是“綠手”。

White lie是“善意的謊言”，而和“白色”無(wú)關(guān)。

Green room是“演員休息室”，而不是“綠色房間”。

White room是“絕塵室”，而不是“白色房間”。

Green house是“溫室”，而不是“綠色的屋子”。

White House是“白宮”，而不是普通的“白房子”。
