宿舍風(fēng)云

校內(nèi)宿舍，原是給初嘗離家生活的孩子了解社會的一個新手練習(xí)場。在這里，有的人善用“資源”，如魚得水，廣交良朋，但也有人因生活習(xí)慣、性格等原因而深感不適，甚至結(jié)了不少冤家。對于他們，與其“居”無寧日，還不如嘗試另一番校外的居家生活，說不定還找到一片海闊天空。

Justin: Have you seen my MP3 player?

Tony: Oh， was that yours? I lent it to Sam.

Justin: What? Why would you do that?

Tony: He wanted some music to listen to while he went jogging. I saw that MP3 player on your bed and said he could borrow it. I didn’t really give it a second thought.

Justin: That’s the third time that you have touched my stuff. Just because we all share a room， doesn’t mean we can go through each other’s things.

Tony: Look， I’m sorry. I honestly didn’t think you would mind. And I didn’t think you would be home tonight anyway. You are always working or studying. It’s like you don’t live here.

Justin: Yeah， I got a part-time job so I can afford to buy things I like and use them when I want. I don’t buy things for you to just give away for other people to use.

Tony: ①You need to chill， man. ②You’re stressing out over nothing. If you spent more time hanging out with the people who actually live in your dormitory， you wouldn’t be 1)freaking like this.

Justin: Why would I want to get to know any of you? You have all made it perfectly clear you have no respect for me.

Justin: I don’t need you to feel sorry for me or stand up for me. I am my own person， I have my own life and my own friends. 賈斯汀:我是什么?繼續(xù)啊，說啊。你根本就不了解我，因?yàn)槟銖臎]花過時間去了解。

托尼:你真是個孤僻鬼。怪不得大家總是對你那么冷淡。知道嗎，別人在背后說你壞話的時候，我還常常站在你這邊為你辯護(hù)，可現(xiàn)在你愛干嘛就干嘛吧。

賈斯汀:我不需要你的同情或者支持。我是自己的主人。我有自己的生活，有自己的朋友。我已經(jīng)盡力嘗試過對你們這些舍友有禮貌的了，可那簡直是白費(fèi)心機(jī)。根本不可能改變，因?yàn)槟銈兛偸窃u論別人，而且還干涉別人的私人空間。我不知道還能忍多久。

Smart Sentences

① You need to chill. 冷靜點(diǎn)。

chill (out): relax after having done something tiring， or when stressful or nervous(放松，特別是在勞累、精神緊張或壓力很大的時候)。例如:

The finals are over and we need to chill.

期終考結(jié)束了，我們需要放松一下。

② You’re stressing out over nothing. 你這是無緣無故大動肝火。

stress out: to subject to or undergo extreme stress(承受極大壓力)。例如:

I’ve been stressing out over the finals， the internship and frequent job interviews in the past month.

③ It’s no wonder people are always giving you the cold shoulder. 怪不得大家總是對你那么冷淡。

no wonder: sth. is not surprising(難怪，不足為奇)。例如:

You went hiking today? No wonder you are so hungry.

你今天去爬山了?難怪你這么餓。

give sb. the cold shoulder: behave towards sb. in an unfriendly way(冷落某人)。例如:

When Gary looked to his roommate for help， he was given the cold shoulder.

④ I used to defend you when people would talk behind your back. 別人在背后說你壞話的時候，我還常常站在你這邊為你辯護(hù)。

behind sb.’s back: sth. is done without sb. knowing about it(背地里)。例如:

I hate being talked about behind my back.

我討厭別人在背后議論我。

⑤ It’s like hitting my head against a wall. 那簡直是白費(fèi)心機(jī)。

hit/bang one’s head against a wall:attempt doing sth. without success(白費(fèi)心機(jī)，徒勞)。例如:

Everything I’ve done in the past year was like hitting my head against a wall. I failed the NMET again.
