低碳交通:什么是“P+R”停車場?

大多數人或許都習慣了停車場門口大寫“P”的標志。不過最近，生活在上海的朋友們可能會看到“P+R”停車的標志。這代表的是什么呢?

“P+R”其實就是“Park and Ride”(泊車+換乘)，表示“停車換乘”的意思。我們來看這個解釋:

Park and Ride: car parks with connections to public transport that allow commuters and others wishing to travel into city centres to leave their personal vehicles in a car park and transfer to a bus， rail system (rapid transit， light rail or commuter rail)， or carpool for the rest of their trip. The vehicle is stored in the car park during the day and retrieved when the commuter returns. Park and rides are generally located in the suburbs of metropolitan areas or on the outer edges of large cities.

“P+R”其實大意是指，開自駕車的人士，將車停在城郊結合部的交通樞紐附近，轉乘軌道交通到市中心。它促成了公交出行與小汽車交通方式的銜接。總的來說，是一種較為成熟的交通換乘系統，不但能減緩城內交通壓力，為個人出行節約時間，而且還能減少大氣污染，節約能源。同時，“park and ride”也可以叫做“incentive parking”。

此次在上海開放的“P+R”試點，實施駕車人持公共交通卡刷卡進入P+R專用停車場(庫)，并用該卡換乘軌道交通，即可享受停車費用優惠的措施。試行收費標準為在換乘服務時段內按次收費，每次10元。

這項舉措對于去市中心尤其人民廣場一帶的自駕上班族，其實還是很劃算的。

世博熱詞:“突擊檢查”英語怎么說?

據報道，世博會的安保，將是上海歷史上最嚴格的安檢。世博園區外有兩道安檢門。在園區外圍控制區圍欄入口，安檢員將對入園者進行門票預檢和物品抽檢。

世博會期間，進園參觀的游客需要接受至少兩次安檢。第一道安檢處設在園區內，占地4.5平方千米，這里安檢員會隨機對一些游客進行檢查。

上文中的spot check就是“抽查、隨機檢查、突擊檢查”的意思，例如:

The campaign against drinking and driving will include spot checks on motorists.禁止酒后駕車的行動中將包括對司機展開突擊檢查這項內容。

subject visitors to spot checks這個短語中，subject意為“使服從、使遭遇”，例如:subject him to his superior's will，使他受他上級的支配;而作為形容詞，be subject to可以表示“易受……影響的”，如:Japan is subject to earthquakes. 日本經常發生地震。The prices are subject to change. 價格會經常變動。

世博熱詞:“專線巴士”英語怎么說?

怎樣才能使2010年世博會的交通變得更為順暢?此次世博采取“專線巴士”將數量龐大的長三角客流轉載入市區，使其對上海的市內交通影響降至最低。我們來看看“專線巴士”的英語該怎么說。

我們來看下面這一句話:

Please take the airport shuttle bus when you leave the aircraft and it will take you directly to the arrival hall.

請您下飛機后乘坐機場專線車，它會直接送您到到達大廳。

從上例句我們可一看到，“專線巴士”的英語是“shuttle bus”。“shuttle”意為“a plane， bus， or train that makes regular short journeys between two palces”。因此，“shuttle bus”也可以稱作“穿梭巴士，班車”，顧名思義就是指“定點穿梭往來兩處或者多個地方”，和“專線巴士”同義。

除此之外，“shuttle bus”還可以指“區間車”，表示“a train or bus travelling only part of its normal route”。

“專線”這個詞不僅會用在公交車上，在電話方面也常用到，比如我們常說的“專線電話”，這時候就不能用“shuttle”了，我們用“special (telephone) line”，或者“private telephone”來表示。
