布拉格傾聽東方之聲
當?shù)貢r間9月21日晚,世界三大音樂節(jié)之一德沃夏克音樂節(jié)首次迎來了中國的交響樂團——浙江交響樂團。捷克國家電視臺現(xiàn)場轉(zhuǎn)播了這次“無與倫比”的音樂會。
布拉格是座音樂之城,參演德沃夏克音樂節(jié)的都是世界著名交響樂團:維也納廣播交響樂團、法國廣播愛樂、德累斯頓國立交響樂團、紐約愛樂樂團和斯洛伐克愛樂等。一個音樂節(jié),40個明星,22場音樂會。與本土血脈相連的音樂家德沃夏克的作品,以及與布拉格淵源頗深的莫扎特的作品成為音樂節(jié)的主要經(jīng)典曲目。
如果說捷克人有什么信仰,那么這個信仰就是音樂,音樂已經(jīng)滲入到每個捷克人的骨髓。音樂會所有票價大多在200克朗到600克朗之間,他們說,只有人人都消費得起、而且能經(jīng)常消費音樂的地方,才能稱得上真正的音樂之城。
置身于高手林立之中的浙江交響樂團,何以向世人展現(xiàn)獨特的東方風采?
那晚,布拉格音樂廳坐滿了來聽“東方聲音”的西方觀眾。捷克鋼琴家馬丁·卡斯克與浙江交響樂團聯(lián)袂演奏的莫扎特《A大調(diào)鋼琴協(xié)奏曲》,讓捷克人第一次認識了這個“難以置信的東方樂團”,感受它所帶來的喜悅和激情。民族性、抒情性和歐洲古典音樂傳統(tǒng)緊密結(jié)合,使浙江交響樂團的演出達到了幾乎完美的境地。全場演出結(jié)束時,雷鳴般的掌聲讓臺上的樂手感動得落淚。指揮湯沐海從來沒有經(jīng)歷過長達半小時之久的謝幕場面,他把剛剛演奏完的樂譜,輕輕放在了觀眾送給他的花籃前,并深深鞠躬……
7月之夏,杭州酷熱難耐,浙江交響樂團正在為9月歐洲巡演做準備。走進杭州寶石山下的浙江交響樂團,一首首悠揚而熟悉的旋律在回響,讓人感到中西合璧的妙不可言——民族樂器與西洋樂的混搭,感覺就像一次世界漫游。
“盡管演奏的作品是民族的,但架構(gòu)的技能卻是現(xiàn)代的。”湯沐海在挑戰(zhàn)西方經(jīng)典的同時,一直致力于打造中國本土作品,這也正是浙江交響樂團之所以被世界所公認的真正原因。如笛子演奏家蔣國基的《鷓鴣飛》、著名作曲家杜鳴心和劉湲的《牡丹仙子》《火車托卡塔》等系列作品,都運用了高難度技巧和時尚的配器,再加之浙江交響樂團來自世界各著名音樂學(xué)院高材生的演繹,使其極具民族性的作品更具有欣賞性。
“真沒料到,浙江交響樂團在音樂節(jié)的票房那么喜人,所有的票早在半年前就全部賣光了。”致力于國際文化雙向交流的“吳氏策劃”總經(jīng)理吳嘉童說,藝術(shù)之城布拉格擁有數(shù)十支職業(yè)交響樂團,這里的觀眾有著很高的欣賞品位,能得到他們的掌聲與喝彩太難得了。此次浙江交響樂團沒有讓門票滯留在組委會手里,而是在常態(tài)國際交響樂市場中通過了考驗,向西方觀眾展示了自身的藝術(shù)實力,從而向世界一流交響樂團邁出了堅實的一步。
對于一個古老的音樂之城,對于一個年輕的東方樂團,那個迷人的布拉格之夜,都是一個驚喜。
交響樂回蕩沃爾沃
“在離世界不遠的地方,有一組看不懂的音符……為了揭開這個秘密,一批又一批癡心人,天天向蒼穹傾訴,夜夜同月亮相約,年復(fù)一年,日復(fù)一日,人們終于發(fā)現(xiàn)那美麗的音符化為人間吉利。”哥德堡當?shù)貢r間9月28日晚,一首由中國吉利公司董事長李書福作詞、著名作曲家李杰作曲的《為了一個美麗的追求》,再現(xiàn)了吉利不畏困難、頑強拼搏的精神,讓全場觀眾為之而動容,經(jīng)久不息的掌聲爆棚音樂廳。
這場面對沃爾沃員工的專場演出,是浙江交響樂團歐洲巡演的第七站。一次真誠的中國式慰問,一份滲透著吉利元素的音樂大餐,共同為并購沃爾沃一周年取得的新成就慶賀。因為“吉利”這個名字,對瑞典人來說頗具親和力,因為他們現(xiàn)在與沃爾沃是一家人。在很多瑞典人眼中,它就是中國企業(yè)的一個符號。
一年前,吉利集團成功收購瑞典沃爾沃轎車生產(chǎn)線后,李書福一直為如何在歐洲人面前塑造吉利的形象而煞費苦心。幾經(jīng)探索之后,他最終選擇了音樂,希望通過這一人類共通的語言,來拉近歐洲人與一個中國汽車后起之秀的距離。
彼特·霍布里,在沃爾沃工作近30年,是負責沃爾沃汽車設(shè)計的副總裁,當晚他和夫人一直沉浸在浙江交響樂團的演出里。這位有著良好修養(yǎng)的英國人,對樂團的演技的感嘆都寫在了臉上,看得出,那是新奇、陶醉和震驚的漸變。散場后,他對我說,“現(xiàn)在看來,文化差異并非是不可逾越的鴻溝。”他幽默地比喻,“正如西方刀叉和中國筷子可以完美結(jié)合,西方音樂和中國傳統(tǒng)音樂可以相互交融,中西文化可以很好融合,中西企業(yè)也是如此。”
在中場休息的有限時間里,我在采訪沃爾沃全球總裁雅各布時,他高興地評價整個演出富有活力與激情,完美地把西方交響樂和中國的民族樂器融合在一起。他說,這種形式是將中國介紹到歐洲并且促進各個國家交流的一種良好手段。
我在音樂廳現(xiàn)場看到,一名當?shù)赜^眾拿著吉利集團特意從中國帶來,贈送給瑞典聽眾們的紅“福”字剪紙,愛不釋手。當我告訴他“福”在中國代表著吉利、幸福,吉利集團希望通過音樂這種無國界的語言,把吉祥、幸福帶給世界各地的人們時,他欣喜地說道:中國企業(yè)能有這樣的愿景,必將受到全世界的尊敬。
據(jù)音樂廳現(xiàn)場工作人員介紹,這里每年舉辦的各種音樂藝術(shù)活動超過500場,每個音樂季大約要舉行100場音樂會。一般的音樂會很難使這兒的人激動,像今天這樣為一首非世界名曲出現(xiàn)了如此持久熱烈的掌聲非常少見,“也許我們?nèi)鸬淙寺牰四銈兊囊魳贰!?/p>
用交響樂傳遞吉利精神,讓世界傾聽吉利的聲音。中國駐哥德堡總領(lǐng)事說,這是企業(yè)與音樂文化相融,走向歐洲、走向世界的一次有意義的嘗試,也是吉利全球化戰(zhàn)略進程中的一部分。吉利希望通過這種文化交流形式,進一步擴大吉利和沃爾沃兩大獨立品牌在歐洲乃至在世界上的影響力和輻射力。
中西合璧大師之湯沐海
當?shù)貢r間10月1日下午,著名指揮家湯沐海在比利時安特衛(wèi)普市的家中,特設(shè)家宴款待浙江交響樂團一行,共慶新中國62周歲生日。
真是不能再巧合了——62年前,湯沐海出生在一個中國藝術(shù)之家。父親湯曉丹是中國電影界老一輩的大導(dǎo)演,母親藍為潔是上影廠電影剪輯“一把刀”,哥哥湯沐黎則是中國融入西方世界最杰出的畫家之一。30年前,湯沐海求學(xué)從祖國來到歐洲,后來就旅居這里。
午后的安特衛(wèi)普陽光普照,走進溫馨的白色“玫瑰屋”,樓下最顯眼處有一架三角鋼琴,那是湯沐海韓國籍夫人、著名鋼琴家徐周希的最愛。樂團一行在樓下花園里,盡情享受著湯沐海從地窖里拿出的珍藏多年的葡萄酒,品嘗著湯夫人精心準備的中西大餐。“作品中西,指揮中西,演奏者中西。”湯夫人送上一道道美味佳肴的同時,還不忘對丈夫執(zhí)棒的樂團贊賞幾句。
談笑間,話題又扯到此次浙江交響樂團的演出,湯沐海對團長陳西泠說:“浙江交響樂團的民樂是世界上最棒的。”被歐洲各大媒體譽為“卷土重來的湯沐海”難掩興奮之情,一次又一次地邀請大家共同舉杯:為浙江交響樂團干杯!為哺育音樂家成長的祖國干杯!
湯沐海的鄰居大多是藝術(shù)家、醫(yī)生和律師。鄰居戈達高興地說,前些天她在意大利維羅納欣賞到浙江交響樂團的第一場演出,被那豐富、優(yōu)美、和諧的浙江交響樂團的獨特語言所感染。“湯已將中國的民族音樂元素,完全融進西方交響樂的音符之中。”在場的一位資深音樂人感嘆,維也納是世界著名的音樂之都,也是歐洲古典音樂的搖籃和一座用音樂裝飾起來的城市,維也納人幾乎一天也離不開音樂,每天晚上在維也納上演的各種音樂會達120多場,看了湯沐海指揮的浙江交響樂團的精湛演出,使他在享受同時感受到了其深刻的內(nèi)涵,那就是“中西合璧”的魅力。
湯沐海深情地說:“是祖國的文化,給了我無法替代的營養(yǎng)。中國文化的細膩、韻味、深度內(nèi)涵,常常會在我表達一部音樂作品的某一瞬間啟迪我,使我在演繹音樂時,能展現(xiàn)自己獨到的風格,為此我心中充滿驕傲。”
上世紀90年代至今,湯沐海先后擔任過比利時皇家弗蘭德斯交響樂團、澳大利亞昆士蘭交響樂團、里斯本古本江交響樂團首席指揮。2009年,湯沐海擔任浙江交響樂團藝術(shù)總監(jiān)及首席指揮。短短兩年,他帶領(lǐng)這支年輕的樂團登上世界三大音樂節(jié)之一的德沃夏克音樂節(jié),“給了世界樂壇一個驚喜”。
依舊是酣暢淋漓的指揮風格,依舊是優(yōu)美和諧的肢體語言。當浙江交響樂團赴歐洲六國巡演的最后一場在布魯塞爾廣播音樂廳上演之時,62歲的湯沐海時而昂首甩發(fā),力挽狂瀾般地揮舞手臂,卷起一陣浩蕩恢弘的旋律;時而指尖輕點,屏氣凝神地雕琢著每一個音符,讓細膩的江南絲竹從指尖下流淌……□
Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra Achieves Resounding Success in Europe

Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra flew from Shanghai on September 14, 2011, starting its 20-day European tour. The orchestra successfully performed in Milan, Turin, Vienna, Prague, Berlin, Stockholm, Gothenburg, Brussels and Paris.
The Zhejiang ensemble held a concert on September 21, 2011 in Prague, as part of Dvorak Prague Festival, an international classic music gala celebrating the best known Czech composer. At the festival, world-famous philharmonics presented 40 top performers and conductors at 22 concerts. The programs at the festival were masterpieces of Dvorak and Mozart, a pioneering predecessor to Dvorak. How could Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra, not well known even in China, shine in at Prague? The orchestra performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A Major in perfect collaboration with Czech pianist Martin Kasik. The orchestra also performed a number of Chinese compositions. The concert was a resounding success. The thundering applause at the end of the concert lasted nearly 30 minutes, moving some musicians on the stage to tears. Maestro Tang Muhai concluded that in his 30-year career as a conductor, he had never seen such a long-standing ovation.
The success at Prague had started in July 2011 when Tang Muhai and his wife came to Hangzhou, the capital of Zhejiang Province, to prepare the Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra for its first-ever large-scale European tour in July. The tour would witness the second anniversary of the founding of the young orchestra of the province. The first difficulty Tang and the orchestra ran into for the show at Prague was neither the scorching weather nor the challenging repertoire the orchestra would perform in Europe. It was the absence of Martin Kasik. How could the orchestra played piece without the piano’s melody? Fortunately, Tang’s wife Ju Hee Suh, a Korean concert pianist, came to help. She practiced the concerto again and again until she did it perfectly before she worked with the orchestra under the baton of her husband. The rehearsal paid off.
The orchestra from Zhejiang played a repertoire in Europe including some carefully selected Chinese musical compositions in collaboration with traditional Chinese master instrumentalists. Tang wanted the western audience to know more about Chinese music.
Wu Jiatong, director of Wu Promotion that is heavily engaged in promoting cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world, was very happy about the success of Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra at Prague. The tickets of the concert staged by Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra had sold out half a year before. Wu considered the orchestra successfully passed the test of the international market of symphony performances.
What is worth special mentioning is the seventh stop of Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra’s European tour. It was Gothenburg, the second largest city in Sweden. A special performance was held there for the workers and managers of Geely, the Zhejiang-based owner of the Volvo Car Corporation. Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra’s European tour was jointly sponsored by Geely and Volvo. Zhejiang Geely started the purchasing procedure in 2010 and completed the acquisition of Volvo from Ford Motor on August 2, 2011. Li Shufu, president of Zhejiang Geely, had searched for a positive way to promote Chinese culture in general and Geely in particular to Europe. His choice is music.
Stefan Jacoby, President and Chief Executive Officer of Volvo Cars, said in an interview with Zhejiang journalists during the intermission of the concert that he was glad to say that the performance was full of passion and energy. He pointed out that Geely and Volvo had distinct corporate cultures but there was no difficulty in the exchanges of the two.
World-class conductor Tang Muhai played a key part in the success of Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra’s European tour. His work with the orchestra made its presentations enjoyable. On October 1, he entertained some officials and musicians of the orchestra at his home in Antwerp, Belgium. The home banquet was also in celebration of the 62nd anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Coincidently, Tang is 62 years old in 2011. His father was Tang Xiaodan, a preeminent film director and his mother was Lan Weijie, the best film editor of Shanghai Film Studio. Tang Muhai’s elder brother is Tang Muli, a well known Chinese artist in the west. Tang came to Europe 30 years ago and finally settled down in Antwerp. Tang lives in a historical block of five streets and 300 houses, a result of 20-year-long architectural competition held across Europe. Tang now lives in a three-storied house built in 1899.
Inevitably, the topic at the banquet came back to the orchestra’s European tour and its concerts. Tang Muhai commented to Chen Xiling, director of Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra, that Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra was the world’s best player of Chinese music in the western style. The musical language adopted by the orchestra is rich, elegant and harmonious, according to Tang.
Tang became the art director and conductor of Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra in 2009. Under his baton, Zhejiang Symphony Orchestra has matured within two years. The young orchestra’s success at Dvorak Prague Festival testified to the growth the orchestra has experienced. Chen Xiling has never attended rehearsals, giving the greatest freedom and authority to the conductor. Tang has the absolute say in all the musical matters. The cooperation between the two helps promote the growth of the orchestra. □
